High Five for Friday #27

H54F - A weekly link up, hosted by Cup of Tea, Bright on a Budget, Coffee with Caitlin & Della Devoted

Welcome to High Five for Friday – hosted by Katie, Caitlin, Tif and Della! If you want to know more, read about it here!

Nicole from The Diary of Nicole Alicia

This week’s featured blogger is Nicole from The Diary of Nicole Alicia! She is currently in London and is doing posts about her travels there. So jealous! If you want some vacation envy, head over. The Harry Potter World is on my bucket list the next time I’m in London. Plus, I discovered Nicole and I both share a love for McVities Digestive Biscuits. Yum! Be sure to swing over and say hi!

And then, before we launch in to week recap mode, can we chat for a second? We try REALLY hard to make H54F not just a link up, but a community, a support for bloggers of all audience sizes, styles, topics, etc! And we’re doing a little brainstorming.

Would you be interested in engaging with one another, regularly, throughout the week? We aren’t sure what that looks like yet… maybe it’s just following one another on social media and sharing each other’s posts. Maybe it’s trying to organize meet ups with those that live close together. I don’t know! BUT if you’re interested in going outside of the usual link up routine and building some camaraderie with one another, let me know! Anyway, our little wheels have been turning, and we just get too excited about these things!!

And now, here was my week!

1. Our 4th of July weekend was tons of fun! Not many pictures, because we mainly hung out with family all weekend and just laughed, ate and enjoyed one another’s company. That’s what matters, right? We caught fireworks out the front window, we put together a puzzle (didn’t complete it, but we tried!), we visited the aquarium, and we watched planes take off and land at the airport.

2. We unfortunately had to leave our family and head home rather abruptly because I got sick. Boo! And it kind of knocked me out of commission all week. But thankfully I’m back on the mend (I think).

3. Can I just say how grateful I am to have such a sweet girl?? Even when I’m having a rough day, Elizabeth is pretty good about being funny! Did you see my IG video yesterday? (I’m @ktcupoftea) It was such a fun game we were playing! Simple joys. (FYI – did you know you could embed pictures or video from IG into posts? I didn’t! Nifty galifty!)

Hello! ?? #toddlerlife

4. I’ve got this looming work deadline (I do a little consulting work at nap times… #napconsulting) that includes two meetings/presentations next week… and I’m DRAGGING my feet on this project. It’s one of those things were it’s all in my head, I just need to commit it to paper in a way that makes sense to others. But it just needs to get DONE!

5. I’m SUPER excited about this weekend! We are doing a picnic/river splashing with friends on Saturday, and then Sunday we’re headed on a train ride. It will be so much fun! Elizabeth hasn’t been on a steam train before, but she’s just now pointing out trains in books and saying “train”. So this may be perfect timing!

So that’s it! Hope you’re having an excellent Friday, and have a happy weekend!!

P.S. Did you see this week’s post about getting out of a rut? I’ve done a few things to get me back on the productivity train! (Meant to do that…) AND I posted an update on how we’re doing with our Summer Bucket list!

Fellow bloggers – ready to join in the link up? Just write a blog post about 5 things that made this week awesome! Add your link to your blog post down below (make sure it’s your blog post, not your blog home page!). And then grab the H54F button to add to your post! And go visit at least 3 fellow link uppers AND this week’s featured blogger! It’s just the nice thing to do.

And be sure to tag your posts/pics on social media with #H54F! We really do try to make the rounds and like, comment, retweet, etc! It’s so much fun to support one another, isn’t it?

Katie, so glad to see you had a great week – sounds like you have a great weekend planned out as well.
Good luck on getting your big consulting project done, I am sure you will.
And yes, definitely interested in connecting with other bloggers outside of the typical linkup. Let me know what you are thinking and if I can help out in any way. 🙂

    • Katie @ Cup of Tea says:

I’m sure I will get the project done too. At least… I’d better!!! HAHA there is no choice, right?? And glad to know you’re up for another aspect to this link up! I’ll definitely be picking your brain with ideas. I’ve got a few already, and want to see if they’re great ideas or just lame ones. I’m really good at coming up with lame ideas. Hope you have a wonderful weekend too!!

  2. Jaelan says:

Yay for family time and the 4th. Sorry you got sick! That’s no good.

I can procrastinate like that, too. It’s the WORST!

    Have a great weekend girl!

    • Katie @ Cup of Tea says:

I am so glad I’m not the only one that gets sucked into the procrastination black hole. It’s stinky. Hope you have a great weekend too!

  3. Megan says:

That was such a cute video you posted on IG. She’s a doll. Sounds like you have another fun weekend coming up. Trains are always fun.

    • Katie @ Cup of Tea says:

It should be a fun weekend! And thank you! Elizabeth is a crack up! (most of the time…) Hope you have a fun weekend too!

  4. Heather says:

Oh gosh, picnic/river splashing sounds like a great relaxing weekend. Boo to being sick. I’m still trying to get healthy after the sickness I caught at the end of April. Everybody is getting sick this year! I have a deadline for side design work I do and I just need to sit down and concentrate to get it finished, I do better work when I’m crunched! Have a great weekend and happy Friday!!

    • Katie @ Cup of Tea says:

It sounds like fun to me too! I just hope it ends up working out…. it’s a bit risky to attempt river splashing during nap time HAHA! I’m so sorry you’re still on the mend! How stinky. It’s just been an icky year for germs.

I do better work when I’m crunched too. At least that’s what I tell myself 😉 Hope you have a great weekend too!

  5. Brenda says:

Happy Friday, Katie! I’m excited to see what you ladies come up with in addition to H54F! Fun to hear that the wheels have been turning for something more for this sweet community of bloggers! 🙂

Your 4th sounded fantastic!! I’m so sorry to hear that you got sick though. 🙁 Happy that you’re on the mend now!

I’ve truly enjoyed following you on Instagram! That vid was so sweet!! I also loved seeing your post last night and knowing that I wasn’t alone in being up late working on this morning’s post. 😉

Have a great time this weekend! Sounds like it’s going to be a FUN one!! 🙂

I’m glad you’re excited about our extra fun bonus. I may be picking your brain for thoughts as we come up with some ideas. Glad to hear the feedback!

And THANK YOU for the sweet instagram comment! I enjoy following you too! And everyone in our little H54F family. I just love IG. So personal and fun 🙂 And all us H54F girls are usually all up late, writing our posts, and chatting in FB messenger until the wee hours. It takes us so long because we’re laughing too much. HAHA! But you are not alone in your late night writing.

      Have a great weekend yourself!

  6. Jess says:

Elizabeth is SO adorable! It’s amazing how little it takes to entertain kids. She can take my spot on my daily commute–lots of trains and buses that I do not find exciting! 😀

I’m intrigued by the thought of a H54F-eqsue thing during the week! I do very much like the friendliness and sense of community this link-up seems to foster. The only thing I’ve come up with so far is another general topic type of link-up earlier in the week, or an ongoing project check in type of thing… but I’m not sure what that would look like. Super helpful over here!!

Hope you’re feeling better and happy weekend! xo

    • Katie @ Cup of Tea says:

She would LOVE your commute! People watching and fast moving vehicles. She’d be hooked. 🙂

Your H54F feedback was so wonderful! That’s exactly what we’re trying to do (sometimes not very successfully). We hope everyone feels at home here and makes some new friends. I don’t know what the extra fun thing will be yet, but I’ll pick your brain with ideas when we get that far 🙂 Have a great weekend!!

  7. Nancy says:

Boo to getting sick on vacation! But glad you had a nice 4th of July. Family time is always fun. Didn’t realize that I wasn’t following you on IG but am now. How cute is your daughter in that video?!!! Have a great weekend!

    • Katie @ Cup of Tea says:

It was a fun 4th, despite the emergency exit at the end. But that’s life! I didn’t know I was missing you too! I could have sworn we did follow one another months ago! But we’re good to go now 🙂 Hope you have a great weekend too!

  8. Mariah says:

I would love to see another link up! And since I’m in Lexington pretty often I could meet up with Tif for something! (I’ve been meaning to anyway!) sounds exciting! I hope you’re feeling better by this weekend! Hate when you get hit by a nasty bug 🙁

  9. Nicole says:

Thanks for featuring me this week! I really appreciate it! That video of Elizabeth is SO cute! I had no idea you could embed pictures and videos from IG either. Good to know! Have a great week!

    • Katie @ Cup of Tea says:

The handy dandy little tips you figure out while drafting blog posts late in the evening 😉 Glad I wasn’t the only one that didn’t know this. And we were so excited to feature you!!! Hope you have a great weekend.

  10. Erin says:

I’d be up for connecting in another way with bloggers outside of the H54F link up.

I can be a world class procrastinator on projects. The inspiration doesn’t seem to come to me until crunch time. This is not a good thing for me though when I have several things looming. Good luck!

    • Katie @ Cup of Tea says:

Yes! So glad you’re up for some extracurricular H54F fun. (Oooo maybe I shouldn’t say that… makes it sound like work… and it totally won’t be!) I work better under pressure too, but this is cutting it a little close for my comfort. Oh well! Have a great weekend!

    • Katie @ Cup of Tea says:

Woohoo! Glad you’re up for some bonus H54F fun, whatever it turns out to be. I may pick your brain sometime to see what you think when we start generating some possibilities! And thank you for your sweet comment about Elizabeth. Giggles with toddlers is such a fun activity. Have a great weekend!

    • Katie @ Cup of Tea says:

Thank you! And I’m glad you’re here! I’m ok with over 5 things 🙂 I’ve done it before too. Some weeks you just have a lot to be excited about!!

  11. Whitney says:

I’m sorry your weekend was cut short with your sickness! That’s no fun. The video of Elizabeth is SO cute…and I did not know you can embed Instagram. TFS!

Count me in on the new ideas – I would love to engage/build camaraderie…all the above!

Enjoy your fun weekend – a train ride sounds so cool!

    • Katie @ Cup of Tea says:

I’m always surprised at what I stumble upon in the blogging tip department. I was trying to take a screen shot of the video and then add it as a picture, but wondered if you could just embed like a YT video… and BAM! A little google searching told me yes. Win! Not bad for a Thursday night 🙂

So glad you’re up for some new ideas in addition to the link up! I think it could be fun!! Just don’t know exactly what yet. HA! TBD.

      Have a fun weekend yourself!

    • Ashley says:

Oh. I forgot to say that I would love to join in more camaraderie type blogging activities. Mine would have to virtual as I am up in Canada… 😉

  12. Colleen says:

Glad to hear you are on the mend! It sounds like you have an exciting weekend coming up – have fun! My mom and I will be crafting this weekend… A fun girls day is in store! And, the video of Elizabeth is so cute! 🙂 Hope she enjoys the train!
