High Five for Friday #39 | Rain, Rain, Go Away!

H54F - A weekly link up, hosted by Cup of Tea, Bright on a Budget, Coffee with Caitlin & Della Devoted

Welcome to High Five for Friday – hosted by KatieTifDella, and Caitlin! If you want to know more, read about it here!

This week’s featured blogger is Tina at Go Big or Go Home! Tina is a wife, mom, DIY’er (like this SUPER cute burlap wreath), AND a fitness instructor! One of my favorite things to catch up and read are her Move It Monday posts, where she shares workout tips and moves. YES! Her IG is also a delight. Go swing over and say hi to Tina!

Alrighty – it’s H54F time! Let’s celebrate the weekend!

1. I am a HUGE dreary weather fan. I love rain, cloudy days, cool weather. Love it. BUT this constant rain we’ve been having in Durham is starting to cramp my style. Literally. I bought these suede booties from Sole Society weeks ago… and can’t wear them yet… Go away rain.

2. Despite the rain, we ventured out on Wednesday to our favorite Children’s Museum to check out a new outdoor play space they just opened. Holy moly, it is AMAZING!! My husband got to come as well, and we all had a fun time scampering up and down the structures. Check out these pics from the museum!

Durham's Museum of Life & Science has a new outdoor exhibit - Hideaway Woods - and it's FANTASTIC!

3. October has begun, and I just want this month to zoom quickly so it’s all over. Next weekend is Elizabeth’s 2nd Birthday party. That won’t be too stressful – but will be a lot of work between today and next weekend.

And then the third week starts our new church building project! We have about 60 volunteers coming into town, from all over the country, that will literally build our new church! It’s so exciting! But my responsibility is to get them places to stay, making sure they all have ways to get to the site, get our own church members excited for this, raising money, etc. I’m used to coordinating large groups of people, but this one has so many moving parts! Oh man – so anxious.

4. I saw this floating around on the ol’ internets and it made me laugh SO HARD!!

Well done, sir. Well done. In moments like this, only Dwight Schrute has the answers:

5. In blogging news, I’m joining Whitney at Come Home for Comfort in her Vlogtober series! She’s come up with a really fun list of prompts to vlog about, and I’ll be posting over on my YouTube channel. Here’s the first video, which is a high quality “getting to know you” video (i.e. a good ol’ ramble from me), but be sure to subscribe to see the rest throughout this month!

So what were you up to this week? Let me know! Or better yet, link up!

Fellow bloggers – ready to join in the link up? Just write a blog post about 5 things that made this week awesome! That quote from Dwight is one of my favorites! We recently started from season 1 and are re-watching all of The Office. And it does not disappoint!

    • Katie @ Cup of Tea says:

I just started re-watching too!! The health insurance episode from season 1 is a fav! I just forget about it until I do a marathon 🙂 Have a great weekend!!

  2. Whitney Jordan says:

Sorry for all the rain! Hope it clears up soon so you can get out and about while wearing your new booties. Good luck with your church building project! I’m sure you’ll be a ray of sunshine in the midst of all those moving parts. Happy weekend to you!

    • Katie @ Cup of Tea says:

Is it too much to ask for the rain to stop so I can wear new shoes?? I don’t think so 😉 HAHA! Hope you have a great weekend too!

  3. Whitney says:

I love dreary weather too…but I’m ready for it to be cold and rainy instead of hot, muggy and rainy! 🙂 Great Dwight quote – there are definitely those times when only an Office quote can say what needs to be said. I also love when Michael asks what was the best advice he ever gave Dwight and he says, “Don’t be an idiot. Great advice, hurts my feelings every time.” 🙂

I’m sure everything will come together so nicely for your volunteers – and they will be so grateful! Good luck with all your moving parts. 🙂

    Happy Weekend!

    • Katie @ Cup of Tea says:

Yes – cold and rainy is more preferred over muggy and rainy. Today it’s definitely chilly! When we were running errands this morning it was in the 50s. Hooray! And that idiot quote is a good one too! I forgot about that one. Really, any Dwight or Michael quote works in almost any situation. 🙂 Happy weekend to you too!

Ugh I am so sick of the rain, so I am totally with you on the “rain rain go away” front! Your video was great! You are always so natural and cheery and energetic in front of the camera–I feel like I could only hit that energy level after like 6 cups of coffee haha! have a great weekend! 🙂

    • Katie @ Cup of Tea says:

When will the rain end?? I’m worried I will need an ark soon. And glad you liked the video! That energy was a “hurry and film before Elizabeth wakes up and I can’t film anymore and I have others I want to do and…” HAHA! That doesn’t come naturally! Have a great weekend yourself!

  5. Amanda Bullard says:

Oh darling you should be in love with our weekend ahead. It cancelled ALL my plans and I’m so sad about that. Loving that museum/play spot. I’m a bit too far from Durham to drive to play there though! Ok not me my littles. Laughing, thanks for that video. xoxox Amanda

    • Katie @ Cup of Tea says:

Oh poo!! Weekend plans getting canceled is not cool. And if you every make a pilgrimage to Durham make the Life & Science museum a stop! And tell me you’re going 🙂 And glad the video solicited a chuckle! That’s really my one goal for those. HA! Stay dry!

    • Katie @ Cup of Tea says:

Vlogtober is going to be such fun! Can’t wait to do some of these prompts. And boo rain! I normally love rain, but enough is enough. Have a great weekend!

    • Katie @ Cup of Tea says:

This kids’ museum has so many fun things to find, and it’s so big that Elizabeth gets pooped before we even make it through everything! It’s definitely worth the membership. We are there all the time when the weather gets cooler. Hope you have some nice Fall weather your direction!!

  6. Michelle says:

Oh how I miss Dwight and the Office cast. That was one of my favorite shows. Rain, as I write this comment (Saturday morning), the wind is howling and the rain has soaked us in. But, not complaining, we so needed it here in Charlotte.

    • Katie @ Cup of Tea says:

Oh my goodness – the rain!! It was definitely a dry summer, so you’re right, we so needed the rain. But all my planters are looking a little soggy now! HAHA! And The Office was one of the best. I rewatch all the time, and it only gets better! Hope you’re having a glorious weekend and that the rain and wind don’t cause any hiccups!

  7. Nancy says:

Wow that outdoor playspace looks like so much fun! I am not loving the rainy weather but it was SO needed! That Church organization undertaking sounds like a huge project! Good luck to you on that! And props to you for taking on such a role! Have a great weekend!

    • Katie @ Cup of Tea says:

True – we were pretty dry too, so the rain is a good thing! But one day off would be nice 😉 That kids’ museum is such fun, we are there all the time when the weather gets nice. And the church project IS a big project, but totally within my talents (which is why I agreed to do it!) and I’m so excited for what it brings. Just have to put my head down and do it with a cheerful heart 🙂 Hope you’re having a great weekend too!

  8. Ashley says:

Wow! October is going to be busy for you! Good luck getting the birthday party together. It is a lot of work, but so much fun! I hope all goes well with your volunteer coordination. Have a great weekend!

    • Katie @ Cup of Tea says:

Thank you! It will all go well, I just may be pooped when the month ends 🙂 Hope you’re having a wonderful weekend too!

    • Katie @ Cup of Tea says:

The outdoor space is so much fun! I’m not sure who had more fun – hubby and I or Elizabeth! And I love my new shoes too! Just want some dry weather to wear them 😉 hope you’re having a great weekend!!

  9. Nicole says:

I would LOVE some dreary weather! I haven’t seen rain in so long! And that museum looks so fun!

Random question, but what kind of lipstick are you wearing in your Vlog? I have been searching for a nice pink color, but have had no luck!
Hope you had a great weekend!
