High Five for Friday #48 | The Christmas Mood

H54F - A weekly link up, hosted by Cup of Tea, Bright on a Budget, Coffee with Caitlin & Della Devoted

Welcome to High Five for Friday – hosted by me, TifDella, and Caitlin! If you want to know more, read about it here!

This week’s featured blogger is Tanya from Prairie Girl! She blogs about all her fun adventures – both on the road and at home, and even sneaks in some delicious recipes too! Her recent post about her favorite spots in NYC has me itching for travel! Go over and say hi!!

Here’s what we were up to at our house!

1. Thanksgiving was delightful! We traveled up to Virginia Beach to celebrate with my in laws, and we had so much fun. Elizabeth, from the moment she woke up, was so excited to go to “Grandaddy’s house!”. And she had a blast playing with her cousin. We also went to the zoo, which was a ton of fun! Elizabeth was so in to it. She even grabbed the map, helped me find the next animal to go see, and then spotted the same animals on the signs. What fun! Thanksgiving fun at the zoo!

2. Speaking of Elizabeth – moms, I need reassurance. Elizabeth is 26 months… and for the last month she’s been waking up SUPER early… normally she sleeps at night from 7 – 7, no problems. Now she’s having a hard time falling asleep and then waking up at 4:00… she’s clearly still tired. I’ll go in to her room and tell her it’s not time to get up yet. She’s yawning, but awake. What is going on??? Anyone else have a toddler that did this? I don’t want to radically change her sleep habits, and I figure this is a phase. Someone tell me you’ve been through this, too!

3. I’m kind of annoyed that Thanksgiving is over, and that I had to take down all of my Fall decorations. I’m actually still bitter October is over! October was SO busy and fast that I wish we could go back. I’m not a Scrooge! BUT October, November and December are my favorite months, and the fact that we’re at December now makes me sad. I can’t believe my favorite time of the year is almost over! I’m slowly getting out the Christmas decorations, and am slowly getting into the Christmas spirit. Anyone else having a hard time getting excited for Christmas?

4. Because we’ve all been sick for so long (feels like forever!) I’ve been behind on blogging. When the sun came out on Thursday, I pulled the camera out and recorded 4 videos back to back! HAHA! I actually love doing videos! Part of me wonders if I should move to doing more videos than blogging? I don’t know… but it felt good to get a bunch done. I’m also trying to vlog a little this month. Not intense! But it’s always fun to see what people do during the Christmas season.

5. Speaking of videos, did you see yesterday’s November Favorites video? Stay tuned for the end of December – I’ll be sharing my FAVORITE favorites from the year!

I’m having a hard time getting into Christmas, too. I mean I bought all the stuff when it came out so I wouldn’t miss it but actually putting up the decor and such just hasn’t happened yet. I think videos are fun but it’s so easy to do a blog and not have makeup or any of the items I’m listing and just linking to, lol. Loved your favorites video and that you had some sun!! Have a great weekend.

HAHA Yes blog writing definitely has its advantages, too 🙂 And I’m so behind on decor. I’ve cobbled together most of it now inside, but haven’t even touched outside yet! That’s today’s mission 🙂

I too am upset that fall is technically over. Can’t we take a month from winter (or two) and put it in fall and move December to February’s spot? Seriously! I would love to do a vlog but um..yeah. LOL! Happy weekend, friend! xo Amanda

Happy Weekend! And I love your idea of moving months around. That’s exactly how I’m feeling! October – December just rolls by too fast. Sigh…

  3. Lindsay says:

Same…I’ve had my decor up for like 3 weeks now and I’m still struggling to get into things! I’ve tried Christmas songs and movies and I still can’t seem to feel the Christmas spirit yet. Hopefully soon!

    Loved your vlog, KT!

Hopefully soon, YES! I’m tricking myself into it for the sake of a toddler. 🙂 Hope you’re having a great weekend!

I’m struggling with Christmas too. This is not new for me, but I think I’m figuring out why: it’s an all-out attack! Songs, commercials, TV specials, decorations–Christmas is everywhere 24/7! So it’s an adjustment. Fall lets you ease on into it and I’m starting to appreciate that more and more. Can you tell I’ve given this a lot of thought?! haha! Hope you have a great weekend and that Elizabeth starts sleeping better!

    • Katie @ Cup of Tea says:

HAHA! But that’s my feeling too. Fall you can ease into, but then as soon as Thanksgiving is over, it’s BAM! Christmas! I love Thanksgiving too much to see it wooshed away! But I love Christmas too, I just want to ease into each one! Hope you’re having a great weekend!

Early mornings are so hard. Our middle guy has been doing that some, too. We have a little light/clock thing that shows him when he can get up. It’s not 100% effective, but it helps sometimes.

    • Katie @ Cup of Tea says:

I can’t figure it out. I think, now, it may be that she needs to go to bed a little later now. The “in bed by 7PM” thing may not be sustainable… but this mom wants her in bed by 7! HAHA! I’m resisting! hope you’re having a great weekend!

Elizabeth’s hair looks adorable!! Did she get her first big haircut?!?! She’s got a great little cut for the holidays. Hope you’re all super healthy in December to make up for the lost sick time earlier in the season. Have a great weekend 🙂

    • Katie @ Cup of Tea says:

She hasn’t had that first haircut yet. I’m debating when… I don’t mind doing it! But I have no idea what to even ask a hair dresser to do with her hair. Oh well… it works for now 🙂 We’re finally all on the mend. Just some runny noses now, thank goodness. Slowly but surely! Hope you’re having a great weekend!

Ha, I think we are on opposite spectrums for once! I’ve been ready for Christmas since September and could’ve skipped right over the fall months this year! I think it’s probably due to it being Lucy’s first Christmas and with so many life changes happening soon I’m just speeding things up in my mind. I seriously love Elizabeth’s little bob haircut! My 3 year old sister has the same one and I just adore it! Happy weekend, friend!

Oh yes! I get that! I was really excited for Christmas last year, because Elizabeth was 14 months and I knew she’d enjoy it more last year than her first Christmas. She’s loving Christmas this year, too, but I’m having a hard time saying goodbye to Fall and Thanksgiving. I’ll probably get in the mood just in time for Christmas to end! I may be that weird lady with the decorations up at the end of January 🙂 Hope you’re having a great weekend!!

    • Katie @ Cup of Tea says:

Fall just zoomed! I love Christmas, but I really wish it was November 1 right now, instead of December! Hope you’re having a great weekend!

  8. Whitney says:

You crack me up…I love that you’re annoyed about fall being over. LOL! 🙂 I love fall but boy do I love Christmas!

I say, do what you love. If you love vlogging more than blogging…do it! Do you watch Jen from Pretty Neat Living? She does a great job of keeping the blog active while actually doing mostly videos. You’re great on camera…go for it! 🙂

    • Katie @ Cup of Tea says:

Thank you for the vlogging encouragement! The preferences probably come and go between the two but vlogging is fun! And I had such a crazy October that I kind of want a do-over hahaha!!
