High Five for Friday #60 | Living with a Toddler

H54F - A weekly link up, hosted by Cup of Tea, Bright on a Budget, Coffee with Caitlin & Della Devoted

Welcome to High Five for Friday – hosted by me, TifDella, and Caitlin! If you want to know more, read about it here!

If you’re new to High Five for Friday, welcome! We’re so happy you’re here! When you link up below, could you add a * after your name? That way we all know you’re here for the first time and can come say hello!

This week’s featured blogger is Emily from Simply a Rough Draft. I love the point of her WHOLE blog – talking about real life, but with the understanding that it doesn’t always go to plan. That’s why life is a rough draft right now. So true, isn’t it? Swing over and say hi to Emily!!

Here’s what we were up to this week!

1. Another sickness has plagued us! It’s bounced from Elizabeth, to me, and now to my husband. WHY??? I swear we get a few weeks break and then something else pops up. Little kids are germ magnets!

2. Funny Elizabeth story, though! Over the weekend, Elizabeth woke up in the middle of the night absolutely sobbing! My husband was faster than I was jumping out of bed and went in to comfort her. It was clear she wasn’t sick, but upset about something. I heard my husband ask her if she had a bad dream… she said “yes, daddy!”. Was it a scary monster? A dark shadow? Nope. “Someone took my snack!” HAHA! I get it, Elizabeth. I get it.

3. We had BEAUTIFUL weather this week!! It was so welcomed after weeks of cold, windy weather. One afternoon we even headed out for a picnic lunch in the backyard. Elizabeth had a blast watching the clouds, chasing birds, and picking up sticks.

Finally! A nice day to be outside!! ☀️☀️ #toddlerlife #sahmlife #outside #durhamnc #bullcity

4. Pregnancy update…. that pesky pregnancy insomnia has hit… it could be just the pregnancy insomnia OR it’s also because of this cold… but it’s been rough going in the sleep department. I wake up around 1AM and can’t get back to sleep. So I come downstairs, wide awake, and putter. For a girl that needs at least 8 hours sleep, this is nuts! The good news is I’ll get lots of books read. HAHA! Has anyone else suffered with this? I didn’t when I was pregnant with Elizabeth, but this time? Yikes.

5. Last week I ended my H54F post about TV… and the same is true this week! My husband recently requested to watch through The Office, which he has NEVER done! He’s seen a few episodes here and there, but we are watching one episode at a time, several in a row. Bliss! Pure Bliss!! We just started season 4. Any Office fans out there?

And did you miss what was on the blog this week? Catch up! There were 2 videos this week, including a video on my favorite ways to find time just for me.

I haven’t started Parks & Rec yet! I remember starting it way back when it first came out and thought it was an Office rip off HAHA! But it’s been on my “watch list” for a while now. Maybe we start that after we watch through The Office again?

Thank you so much for featuring Simply A Rough Draft this week! I love linking up with you girls!
I suffered from pregnancy insomnia with all three of my kids. It is miserable! I made a whole wreath one night when I was pregnant! Reading was the only thing that relaxed me enough to finally catch some zzz’s!
Have a great weekend…hope you get some rest!

    • Katie @ Cup of Tea says:

I always feel a little better when I see others have been through the same experiences. Reading will definitely be my way to get through this… sigh….Hope you’re having a great weekend!! Excited to feature you!

Ahhh we love the office and have watched it all the way through a couple times. It’s so good! Sickness and kids- seriously! They do pick up everything. Hope you have a great weekend!

    • Katie @ Cup of Tea says:

I’ve watched the entire Office series so many times! My husband has seen a handful of episodes from a few seasons… so I was SHOCKED when he said he wanted to start watching them from start to finish. It makes me happy 🙂 Hope you’re having a great weekend too!

  3. Stefanie says:

I hope you feel better soon and I hope you get some sleep! XOXO I’m a huge fan of The Office. My husband and I watched the entire series last year. SO good!

    • Katie @ Cup of Tea says:

Isn’t The Office the best?? I’ve seen the whole series SO many times, but my husband’s barely seen 10 episodes. This is just glorious!

  4. Amanda says:

ANOTHER sickness?!?!? Goodness gracious you guys have had it bad this winter. Look at those sweet bare feet in that picture of Elizabeth! I cannot wait for that warm weather to stick around. Insomnia wasn’t a problem for me in pregnancy until month 7-9 oh.my.goodness! Prayers for you. Happy weekend.

    • Katie @ Cup of Tea says:

YES! I feel like we’ve had something every few weeks this winter… grr…. the dangers of being social! Next winter we’ll just be hermits. 🙂 Hope you’re having a great weekend.

  5. Whitney Jordan says:

Sorry to hear about the sickness and sleepless nights. Hopefully you all can rest up this weekend. Glad you’re enjoying great books and great shows. Love the office and I’m sure it’s fun to be able to watch several episodes in a row 🙂 Hope you have a great weekend!

    • Katie @ Cup of Tea says:

Watching episodes, one after the next, is tons of fun! Especially knowing that my husband hasn’t seen it and he’s going to LOVE it! 🙂 Hope you all are having a great weekend!

  6. Nicole says:

How funny that Elizabeth had a nightmare about someone taking her snack! I totally get it though, I do not like sharing my food either!

I can’t imagine how annoying it must be to have insomnia! Hopefully that won’t last long!

I have never watched The Office either, but I do think you should watch Parks & Rec next, it’s pretty funny!

    Have a great weekend!

    • Katie @ Cup of Tea says:

Parks & Rec should be on my list! I’ve heard it’s similar to The Office, so I’m bound to like it. And like mommy, like daughter – I don’t share food well either… 🙂 Hope you’re having a great weekend!!

  7. Nancy says:

Oh no, we’ve been battling sick germs over here too! Hope everyone’s feeling better. I’ve only seen sporadic episodes of The Office, but I think my husband’s seem them all. How cute was Elizabeth’s nightmare!!! Have a great weekend!

    • Katie @ Cup of Tea says:

Poor Elizabeth – if that’s her version of a nightmare… that means if someone snatches a goldfish from her at some point in her life, she’ll FLIP OUT! 🙂 This winter has been bad for us in the sick department… but hopefully we’re coming to the end of it… sigh…. hope you’re having a great weekend too!

  8. Caitlin says:

Oh my 2 year old has suddenly stopped sharing with me – her bffffff – and I don’t like it! Plus she has had the flu all week and I’ve been on Tamiflu as a preventative (I’m pregnant) so I feel ya on the germ business.

Stopping over from the linkup! Hope you can stop by my blog as well =0) Happy Friday!

    • Katie @ Cup of Tea says:

Those 2 year olds share germs so easily! We’re hopefully on the downhill slide with our sickness after today. Hope you haven’t caught anything yet!! Thanks for swinging by!

  9. Kat says:

Ahhh, The Office. Definitely one of my favorites! My husband and I have watched it all the way through way more times than I’d even like to admit.

    Enjoy the weekend!

    xoxo
    Kat 🙂

    • Katie @ Cup of Tea says:

I’ve seen the whole series so many times too! So it’s a delight that my husband actually wants to watch them too!! I’m trying hard not to quote lines as we watch 🙂 Hope you’re having a good weekend!

  10. Erin says:

I had pregnancy insomnia starting about 7 months. I would get up and read or watch tv that wasn’t too intense (home improvement or cooking shows vs. major dramas.) I felt like a zombie going in to work everyday for a while.

We loved The Office and watched it when it on in regular programming. Now that we seem to “binge” watch a lot of shows, it’s almost hard to just watch one at a time if it’s a current show.

    • Katie @ Cup of Tea says:

I agree! The binge watching system has totally ruined me for watching one show a week… I don’t have the patience for it any more 🙂 And I’m at the 7 month mark now… and it makes perfect sense for the insomnia thing. It’s the worst! But I’ll be catching up on books 🙂 Hope you’re having a great weekend!

  11. Jess says:

Ugh sickness. I’ve been sick this week myself, so I feel your pain! And Elizabeth’s “nightmare” was hilarious! Poor girl having to share her snack! 🙂 Hope you guys are on the mend and have a great weekend!

    • Katie @ Cup of Tea says:

That girl has a hard life if sharing a snack constitutes as a nightmare 🙂 Isn’t that funny?! HAHA! Hope you’re on the mend too!!

    • Katie @ Cup of Tea says:

I love Office montages. It’s a ton of funny in 10 minutes 🙂 Hope you’re having a great weekend!!

    • Katie @ Cup of Tea says:

I’m hoping this is the end of our sickness too… it’s just been non-stop! Next year we plan on being hermits!!
