Hey Hey! It’s Friday!

Well hello! It’s been a while!

I decided to take a super long break from the blog over the Christmas holiday. There was just too much fun to be had the last few weeks!

So since I’ve been MIA for the last few weeks, let’s catch up!

Christmas was so delightful! Hubby had to work up until Christmas Day, so we decided to open our family gifts Christmas Eve. It was so fun watching Elizabeth get better and better at opening gifts.

Christmas morning we had a quick breakfast, and then husband headed off to work. I thought he was going to be home by noon, so I had the morning to get packed to head up to my in laws. He actually got home at 9:00! A Christmas Miracle! But I hadn’t even begun to pack… so we quickly packed and hit the road. In the flurry of activity we forgot our beautifully wrapped gifts for the family! We felt horrible! Thankfully everyone didn’t give us snake eyes when we arrived.

Christmas in Virginia was particularly fun, because Elizabeth got to hang out with her 9 month old cousin! At one point they even had matching outfits, riding around in a play car together. Such fun memories!

We had to hustle back down from Virginia Friday night, because my family flew in Saturday morning. It was so nice to have my mom and dad, and my sister and her husband here. We haven’t all been together for Christmas for YEARS!

Katie Family Time is basically this – hang out, drink hot drinks, chit chat, and read magazines. My family doesn’t really need much entertainment! We ventured out to downtown Raleigh to go to a museum and go see a movie. There was even a hike involved at some point. Overall, a really nice relaxing time with family! And no presents left behind.

Elizabeth is, of course, now really bored with life. There is no one interesting sitting in the back seat of the car with her. There isn’t a constant rotation of people to play with her.

I hope you had a lovely Christmas!! I’m looking forward to getting back to the regularly scheduled program next week!

Sounds like a perfect Christmas break filled with family fun. Olive always enjoys time with her cousins and seems bored with just me after all the family leaves 🙂 Thankfully she has new toys to grab her attention. Happy New Year!!

The new toys have definitely been helping a lot! And we’re trying to get out of the house more… play dates seem to be softening her boredom blow. 🙂

Definitely! With both of our families, we don’t really have to “entertain” which is nice. And it was great to catch up on my 4 month magazine back log!

Sounds lovely! And we experienced the same attention withdrawal for Hendrik. Somehow mom just isn’t as interested in being his spotter for hours of stair climbing like his grandparents… And extra yay for husbands getting off early on Christmas 🙂

It’s always amazing when those husbands come home early! It’s rare, but exciting.

And I think you basically summed up why Elizabeth is bored now – I’m not willing to watch her go up and down the stairs 30 times! 🙂

You’re right! So much to remember, and rushing around doesn’t help matters. And I should have gathered the presents by the garage door or something, instead of tucked away… I’ll do better next time, I guess!

Having family close by does make for a different holiday, I’d imagine! If my family was close by, it would be at least getting together for a meal and presents. Probably not even an overnight stay…. but it’s just different!

Hope you had a nice Christmas too!

Even if the year is already three days old, i want to wish you and your family “a happy new year 2015”! On christmas i also had have a lot of relaxing and fun family time. For me it’s the best way to charge my batterie. And we also had some snow right after christmas, which was quite delightful, because i love snow but we had have no snow the last winter. Take a look on my blog to see some snow pictures and my handmade christmas ornamants.

      Happy New Year!!

I’m envious of your snow. I think snow at Christmas just adds to the magic of the season. Especially when you don’t have to travel in it!

HAHA Elizabeth was WAY more into unwrapping at Christmas than she was just a few months ago for her birthday! Such fun! Although I could have wrapped up tissue boxes, and she would have been thrilled 🙂
