We recently headed up to my in-laws home to visit our new niece!  She is precious, and our little girl already has a cousin! Lucky girl.  I didn’t have any cousins growing up, so she’s ahead of me already.

Going out of town is so challenging with a baby.  Our car fills up fast!  But, we’ve traveled up to the Grandparents’ house several times now, and we’ve got the essentials down to a science.

Wardrobe Refresh

Image

Original Image Source

Every time it’s time to swap out the seasonal clothes, I take the opportunity to cleanse and refresh my clothes.  Not just reorganize my closet and dresser (although, it desperately needs it!), but take stock of what I don’t wear anymore, what doesn’t fit, and what I’m just not loving.  I am actually pretty good at that.  And it’s that time of year.

I’ve been seeking inspiration on Pinterest, and pinning some ideas here on a board.  Some organization ideas, as well as style.  PLUS I’m drooling over one day having a custom closet.

It’s a big project coming up, and may have our room look like a disaster zone while in progress.  When I’m getting ready to cleanse my closet, I do the following:

1. Edit – go through my existing clothes and decide to either Keep, Toss or Donate.  And I’m ruthless!

2. Reorganize – put the “Keeps” back neatly and smartly, and figure out what I need to tackle those remaining piles.

3. Find new outfits – sort through the final wardrobe and figure out what outfits I have, and what pieces I need to fill in the gaps.

Nothing novel there.  It’s pretty much the same process everyone tells you to do.

This time, however, I find myself getting ready to do a closet cleanse and refresh, and debating what to do with my “previous life” clothes.  The suits, structured dresses, dry clean only tops… as a Stay at Home Mom, keeping them just doesn’t make sense!  I still love to get dressed up, and don’t plan on getting rid of ALL my nice clothes, but do I really need 5 suits?

But, I’m having a hard time letting go.

And I’m normally not like that.

Are you like me?  Either getting ready to or desperately need to do a closet reorg?  Or, have you already done it? (Lucky you!!!)

Over the next few weeks, I’ll be wading through each step.  And I’ll share what I’m doing.  I don’t claim to be a genius professional organizer, or an awesome stylist.  Just someone who hates clutter and piles.  And I love to get rid of things.

Except those 5 suits… I may just keep those.

What I’m drinking – Peaberry Coffee from Trader Joe’s

Happy Monday!  Hope you had a nice weekend!

My parents were in town, so we did some Durham tourist things, which included a visit to the Duke Gardens.  It was a wonderful day on Saturday.  I even got sunburned.  First of the year!  We finished our sunny afternoon off at Maple View Farms in Hillsborough.  If you haven’t been there, visit!  The ice cream is yummy, but I love sitting on the front porch, in a rocking chair, looking at the farmland and rolling hills.  Our sweet little girl managed to plant her face in my ice cream cone!  Sneaky.  She’s too fast!

Hey Hey, It’s Friday!

It’s Friday!  Woo hoo!

This was a super busy week, but there were some awesome highlights!

1. I had a productive week! *high five* Nothing like have a week where you just keep checking items off your to-do list.  I normally end a week feeling lazy like I could have done better, but not this week!

2. This happens today, and could be the reason I was so productive, but my parents are coming today!  They haven’t seen our little one since Christmas, and she’s changed so much.  It will be fun watching them play with her.

3. The wee one tried some solid food this week, and loved it!  She slobbered all over with a sliced strawberry (and stained EVERYTHING!), and Wednesday night she tried a few chunks of avocado.  Once she actually grabbed it, she immediately started eating it.  We don’t expect her to actually eat the food we give her yet, but it sure is fun to watch her try!  And it makes for a quiet dinner, because she’s so entertained!  Note avocado all the way up to her elbows!

What’s on the Menu? Menu Monday!

What I’m drinking – Joe’s Coffee Decaf, from Trader Joe’s

Happy Tuesday (oops!)

Yep, I’m a lazy tooshie… I had the menu written on time but neglected to write a post!

I’m going to have a brag about what we had on Sunday night!  We had one of my favorites for comfort food.  We had vegetarian chicken with a mushroom cream sauce (just a splash of half n half).  This time I added some pine nuts and wilted the rest of a bag of swiss chard that I had on hand.  So yummy!  Then, I used some potatoes I had on hand to make mashed potatoes.  Instead of mashing it with butter or heavy cream, I used broth.  I’m so proud that I even thought of that!  Then the mushroom sauce paired perfectly with the potatoes as gravy.  I had the leftovers Monday afternoon with some veggie chicken strips.
