Welcome to High Five for Friday – hosted by Katie, Caitlin, Tif and Della! If you want to know more, read about it here!
This week’s featured blogger is Paige from Reasons to Come Home! I’m always excited to read a blog that makes me laugh! And when someone has a blog with topics I love, like every day life, served with some sass, I love it! Go on over and say hi to Paige!
Here’s what I was up to this week:
1. We suffered through many a toddler tantrum this week… it’s the Obnoxious Ones, friends. Forget the Terrible Twos. And those tantrums turned each happy, productive day into a sour, crabby, worn out one. At least it’s a fresh week coming soon! But thankfully we started the week off on a good note! We had gorgeous weather last weekend! Truly – high 60s and sunny. We spent the majority of Sunday outside, and my paparazzi husband snapped some great pictures!
2. A new Krispy Kreme opened up near my home last week. Apparently, it’s the first Krispy Kreme in Durham. Needless to say, traffic has been CRAZY when you drive by there! Traffic backed up on the road, and cops directing traffic around the drive through and the main street. Nuts. So I didn’t feel like waiting in line for a fresh donut. So I settled on a bag of powdered minis from the grocery store. Can you ever eat just one of those?? I never can! That bag lasted for less than 24 hours.
3. After several weeks stuck in a blogging rut, it felt good to get a productive week of blogging under my belt. Shoot – I even got a new favorites video up! If you missed this week’s posts, be sure to check them out!
4. Anyone else watching the newest season of Downton Abbey???? What do you think? Some of the story lines in this season are great! And some…. meh. But plug – if you love Downton Abbey and murder mysteries, I am also loving Grantchester on PBS. It’s really good too!
5. My Bible study has organized a fun free baby sitting swap! Tonight I’ll be baby sitting for one of the families! It’s so nice to be able to do this for another couple. Free baby sitting is fantastic! 🙂 Luckily, we have a date night planned for our free sitter night! Hubby won free tickets to a Duke basketball game in a few weeks!! I’m really excited about it. We’ve been once before, and it’s something you just MUST do when you’re in Durham.
So that’s it!!! Hope you have a fantastic Valentine’s Day weekend (because why not celebrate all weekend??). Can’t wait to hear about it next week on High Five for Friday!

High 60’s and sunny, ugh I envy you right now!!!! The warmest it’s been here over the past few days is I think lower 30’s. Happy Friday!

Ick! It was definitely beautiful earlier this week. But we’ve got the cold weather back!!! Even snow predicted for next week. Mother Nature is fickle! Happy Friday to you too!
Hi Katie,
I am loving Grantchester as well…sorry about a long toddler week! Wishing you a cup of patience..Heidi
I could definitely use that patience, Heidi!! Lots of deep, calm breaths here this week. But at least I have Grantchester at nap times! 🙂
When the Krispy Kreme opened up near us, it was crazy like that too. Cops directing traffic for days before it finally slowed down. People gotta have their hot glazed donuts! I agree about Downton. I don’t understand why the Russian guy is part of this season, and I felt so bad for the farmer’s wife when Edith took her daughter back!
Oh my goodness!! I cried quite a bit for the farmer’s wife too!! It’s such a hard situation, but I know I would have been gutted if I was in the wife’s shoes!!
A Dunkin’ Donuts opened up here last summer. It was the first one in Lincoln and the same thing happened! The drive-through line was out into the street. Yikes!
Isn’t it nuts???? I’m all for donuts! But I’m not waiting in line for an hour!
That’s hilarious about the Krispy Kreme! We have two here in town so I guess I’m spoiled. Happy Valentines Day!
The enthusiasm is really a thing to behold… and it is shocking that Durham is just now getting a free standing store, considering the company is based in Winston Salem!
I keep seeing the previews for Grantchester at the end of Downtown and thinking I need to watch! Seems like it would be right up my alley too… but I’m always watching my Downton episodes days later on DVR so I forget to set it to record the other one…
It is really good! The mysteries aren’t too dark and twisty, but still a good mystery. The characters are really good, though. But I’ve just been watching Grantchester on PBS’s website!
Sounds like we had a very similar week with our toddlers! Maybe something was in the air? I also looove Downton, but am not loving the whole Mary’s love life situation. And I really pity Edith! I’ve seen the spots for Grandchester and wondered if I would like it. I’ll have to check it out 🙂
The toddler whine will be the end of me…. but it’s good (or bad?) to know I’m not alone!
And yes – Mary’s love triangle… I was happy when it resolved and she was with Gillingham, but now… grr. Check out Grantchester! It’s quite good – and anything set in post-WWII/50s makes me happy.
Thanks so much for hosting! Have a great weekend!
Thank YOU for linking up!! Have a great weekend yourself.
I was completely unprepared when Olive started throwing tantrums. I thought that didn’t start until the twos and threes… oh silly me. I’m hoping we’re getting them all out of the way now so that the twos and threes are a breeze 🙂 Enjoy that free babysitting!!
HAHA That’s my hope too! Apparently, my Terrible Twos were much better than the Obnoxious Ones, so I’m hoping Elizabeth continues that tradition!
Elizabeth is such a cutie! I Hope next week is a bit calmer for you! Have a fantastic weekend!
Thank you so much! And I’m hoping so too 🙂 Hope you had a lovely weekend yourself!
