Top 5 Summer Lip Colors | The Makeup Mix-Up

Perfect Summer Lip Products

You know I’m not a makeup expert, right? Yeah, I’m definitely not. But I do love makeup and all things beauty! So today I’m sharing my Top 5 favorite lip products for summer time!

I really am just an easy, tinted lip balm kind of girl. I rarely slap on the fussier lipsticks (or look in the mirror to apply color!) for every day.

In the summer, I stick to my go-to easy to apply formulas, but lean towards brighter colors. Because, well, why not?

That’s my absolute FAVORITE tinted lip balm! It’s the Fresh Sugar Lip Treatment in Coral. I just love this formula! It’s truly the most pigmented lip balm I’ve ever tried. It feels amazing on your lips, too! And this coral color is just perfect for my complexion and preferred color intensity.

Here are a few of my other favorite, non-fussy lip products in bright colors, perfect for summer! (And bonus – 3 are drugstore!)

Revlon Colorstay Moisture Stain in India Intrigue | Neutrogena MoistureSmooth Color Stick in Bright Berry | Revlon Color Burst Balm Stain in Smitten | Korres Lip Butter in Pomegranate |
Fresh Sugar Lip Treatment in Coral

All of these lip products are so lovely and moisturizing on your lips, you’ll forget that there is serious color there too!

Here are some swatches!

From L to R:

Fresh Sugar Lip Treatment | Do I need to say more gushing things? It’s worth the money to own one of these.

Korres Lip Butter | This isn’t as big of a color impact in the swatch, but on the lips it is definitely a “your lips but better” color. The perfect tint. And bonus – totally works as a cheek stain in a pinch!

Revlon ColorStay | Glossy, moisturizing, and a super long lasting color! It goes on the lips a bit patchy, but just work it in and it lasts for such a long time.

Neutrogena Moisture Smooth Color Stick | It’s the most moisturizing of the drugstore lippies. But it’s also the weakest in color payout. But really easy to just slap on and go!

Revlon Color Burst Balm Stain | Goes on really easy AND it lasts and lasts and lasts.

So after those swatches, I quickly rubbed my arm with a tissue to get the product off. Both Revlon products wouldn’t budge. No big deal, though, right? Wash it and it will disappear! Well, 2 hours later, after solid play time with my toddler, I glanced down and saw swatches! Faint swatches, mind you. But after the other swatches had long disappeared, the Revlon swatches stuck.

Now that’s saying something.

HAHA They wear forever on the arm 😉 The next morning I could still see a faint hue of color, even after a shower and a scrub. Crazy! And the chubby sticks are just so easy. Creamy balms but great color selections.

Those are my favorite shades for summer, too! I’m a lipstick girl for sure, but I love these easy to apply products for easy makeup days at home. You’re right, Revlon has pretty great staying power – I have several of their lip products that I love. I’ve heard so much about the Fresh Sugar ones…not sure I can get over the price but I’m definitely intrigued. ::)

Those Revlon products just last and last! I’m always surprised. The Fresh Sugar ones are worth the splurge! The colors are really vibrant, and the balm is just really superior. And they have quite a few color options.

Yay lip products! I already have the Revlon lippies based on your previous recommendations in Favorites videos, haha! I really want to love the Fresh Sugar balm, but the strong lemon scent bugs me, womp. On an unrelated note, where did you get your shirt?? I love it!

    • Katie @ Cup of Tea says:

HAHA I hope the Revlon ones haven’t disappointed yet! And I hadn’t noticed the lemon scent, BUT it’s because I love lemon, so that makes sense. And the shirt is actually a tee shirt dress from Old Navy. I just had a scan of the website and don’t see it anymore. I got it in the Spring. But I love the mixed patterns in it!

I LOVE Revlon lipsticks. They really do stay, don’t they?

I think I need that Fresh Sugar lipstick. It looks absolutely gorgeous. As do you, my dear! You look stunning.

They stay and stay and stay! I’m always shocked. And thank you for the sweet complement. Nothing like boosting spirits by slapping on a tinted lip balm. But that coral color is such a fav! It’s the perfect tint for my skin tone. I received a gift set of minis of those Fresh balms, and now that I’ve got some fav colors I need to splurge on the larger sizes. They are so great!

Tinted lip balm girls unite! There are tons of options at the drugstore, too. But if you want a splurge, the Fresh ones are amazing! (And not too splurgy)

I was just thinking I needed to try out a new red lipstick…. thanks for the tips. I think I’ll take a look at the Revlon balm stain!

  5. Stephanie Eva says:

I always love a long-lasting two-step when I do daring summer shades because once I’ve looked in the mirror to apply I don’t have to look the rest of the day!! 😉 Other than that I’m just like you and prefer a tinted lip balm. My friend recommended a lip balm stain and I fell in love, so I can see why you’d be using the color sticks and such. The Fresh one looks absolutely BEAUTIFUL. Hard to believe it’s a tinted balm!?! Thanks for sharing, I’m glad you’re participating in the Makeup Mixup and look forward to what you’ll add to the mix for next week!! It’s a fun challenge so far I think!! Glad I joined in, too!

    Much LOVE!!

The Fresh balms are SO PIGMENTED! They last a decent amount of time too. They are just all-around fantastic. Pricey, but definitely worth it. Isn’t this link up fun? It’s such a fun one! See you on Thursday!
