Menu Monday #62 | New Year – New Menu

ListCloseUp

Happy New Year! I hope you’ve had a great start to 2016!

I’ll admit, I’ve been looking forward to this Monday. After the hustle and bustle of the holidays, it’s nice to be back to the usual routine.

I’ve been doing some thinking about Menu Monday. I originally started my Menu Monday posts as a motivation to actually get my menu planning done!

I feel like, now, it’s become a bit repetitive or even boring?? I could be wrong. But if I’m bored, I assume everyone else is?

So I’ve come up with some food-related posts that will rotate each Monday! I’ll include a new recipe each week, a complete menu, and even a round up of my favorite new recipes I tried that month. I may even do a vlog of what we ate for a week.  For those that like the menus, I won’t do away with it! But I’ll add in some other food content too… just to keep me from getting bored 😉

Anyway, on to this week’s menu! I got several new cookbooks for Christmas, and am trying two recipes from The French Market cookbook by Clotilde Dusoulier, blogger at Chocolate & Zucchini. This particular cookbook is all simple French flavors, all vegetarian, and all seasonal. I love that this cookbook is organized by season! Much easier to shop. And the recipes look doable for even the basic home cook (like me!). Can’t wait to see how these go!

As always, for more information on how I menu plan, look at this.

Monday:
Indian Cashew Curry

Tuesday:
Burgers and Fries

Wednesday:
Mushroom and Chive Quiche
(From The French Market)

Thursday:
Broccoli Parmentier
(From The French Market)

Friday:
Vegetarian Chili and Cornbread

Saturday:
Leftovers

Sunday:
Take Out

I’ll be perusing the Pinterest board here shortly because I have NO IDEA WHAT TO COOK – EVER! Ah. So frustrating.

I put on snapchat this week that I was thinking of taking a page out of your book and doing a weekly menu. Have any tips on how to get started?

Even though I do it every week it’s still a struggle ? but for me, when I was getting back into the routine, I tried to be realistic. I probably could only attempt one “new to me” recipe a week. I would need a quick meal (tacos are our go to for that) and plan for one out to eat (because #letsbereal) then fill in gaps with other meals. I know we are big Mexican food people, so we need at least 2 meals in that category. I love pasta. Another meal! And in the colder months we have soup and salad on Friday night that have plenty of leftovers for lunch on Saturday. Just play around with it and you’ll find a rhythm! And SAVE the menus so you don’t have to reinvent the wheel each week!

I love your idea for a post featuring new recipes that were a hit! I can’t wait to see what you share…and you should definitely do a vlog style “what’s for dinner” video. 🙂
