Welcome to High Five for Friday – hosted by me, Tif, and Della! Come, read up on what we’ve been up to this week and get to know some amazing bloggers down below!
Today’s featured blogger is Colletta from Colletta’s Kitchen Sink! She loves blogging about her family and all the things that she loves! She’s also a fellow tea lover! Hooray! Be sure to swing over and say hello to Colletta!
Last week we had snow and ice… this week we hit the 60s. Welcome to North Carolina.
1. I tried to be the fun mom this week and spend a ton of time outside! We had a spontaneous picnic in the backyard on Wednesday, and then 2 playground play dates. It’s just so funny that last week we were iced in all week, and now we’re out enjoying the sunshine!
2. It was a good week for food again! I made a few new dishes, including this Southwestern Kale Power Salad. It made leftovers for days and it was SO satisfying!!
3. We are just a few weeks away from moving in to our brand new church! This has been over a year in the making (good ol’ Chapel Hill, NC) and it’s going to be so great not being a renter. I’ve sneakily scheduled myself to do a few of the first day’s things – like giving the kids story during the service. HA! I couldn’t resist being the first one.
4. My husband, after 6 months of being in his new office, still hasn’t really decorated it. So he requested some original Elizabeth art, and she happily complied! I happened to have some small canvases that I bought on super sale, so she painted away.
5. As you read this, I’m happily watching the live coverage of the inauguration today. Whatever your political feelings, I can’t help but get excited about pomp and circumstance. There is SUCH tradition around this day. What the outgoing president does, what the incoming president does… the fact that ALL living presidents come as well. It’s just all so cool!
How was your week?? Can’t wait to hear all about it!

Happy Friday, Katie! I love that you guys were able to enjoy time outside in the sun this week! I’m sure your husband’s office will be sporting the sweetest art work — original Elizabeth pieces will be perfect! I’m so looking forward to watching with my girls today too! Such an historic occasion! Enjoy your weekend, friend! xo – Brenda // ChattingOverChocolate.com
Happy Friday! So funny how the weather changes so quickly – a picnic sounds like such a fun activity to do with kids 🙂 And that kale/sweet potato bowl looks SO yummy! Thanks for hosting 🙂

I wish it was warm enough to play outside! It’s so cold, but I’m not complaining too much since there hasn’t been much snow (…..yet, I’m sure I just jinxed it!). That power bowl looks tasty! I’m trying to incorporate more meatless dishes into our menu plan. Have a great weekend!
I love that Elizabeth’s artwork will be displayed in your husband’s office. 🙂 So sweet!
Sounds like a fun week! We’ve had snow on the ground here since the beginning of December, so it’s weird to think there are places where it’s warm enough for a picnic! Haha. William’s little wave is SO cute! Or maybe he’s showing off some food? 😉 Elizabeth looks like quite the little painter! How fun she will have her artwork on display in dad’s office! Pretty much the highest honor for a kid, except maybe the fridge! 😉 hope you have a great weekend!
The sun came out today and it has completely made my day! Glad you guys got to enjoy some outside time! And the inauguration was awesome! I’m so glad I was home to watch it. Happy Weekend!
Your Power Bowl looked so good this week! I’ve got to give it a try. We were glued to the TV this morning watching all of the festivities, too. I love tradition 🙂 Hope you have great weekend. Your husband’s office is going to look great with all of that new artwork 🙂
Sounds like such a fun week! Love the art for the office! I’m also always amazed at the inauguration! We are so very lucky to be Americans. Hope you have a wonderful weekend!
Inaugurations are just so much fun to watch. There are just so many traditions tucked in that are fun to enjoy.
Aw, Elizabeth’s painting! So cute! I actually wound up trying to name all of the US presidents last night (I only forgot two!) and learning all kinds of weird facts about them! Wild Friday night! haha
HAHAHA! That sounds like my kind of Friday night, actually 🙂 But good on you for naming them all. I start loosing my count in the 1800s….
Yum! That dish looks amazing. I gave that exact picnic blanket 🙂 we have had a beautiful weekend with picnic temps too.
Picnic weather is just so wonderful!
The weather swings in the Carolinas were truly crazy weren’t they?! I couldn’t believe the difference from the snow week to the next. Your food pics have been so beautiful – almost too good to eat. 🙂 I love that your husband wanted Elizabeth originals for his office. That’s so cute!!! Happy weekend, friend!
I wish I was better at food pics, but thankfully the last few recipes have been kind. And this weather – seriously! I’m happy about the warmer weather, but my sweaters and coats are getting neglected. 🙂
