Hey Hey! It’s Friday!

Friday Friday Friday!!  Love it.  This week has been a great one, but phew! I’m tired.  I don’t know why…

I’m clearly getting old. Plus it’s raining right now. (Am I the only one that has achy bones when it’s raining?)

Recap time!

1. We were meant to be really busy last weekend with plenty of parties and activities, but they were all canceled or moved to another date. Which was a bummer, but ended up working out. I was sick, and Elizabeth seemed like she was at the beginning stages of a cold. So having a quiet weekend couldn’t have come at a better time! Saturday we decided, since it was an overcast, cool and windy day, to head to the Durham Life & Science Museum for an hour to walk around. They have a huge outdoor section, which is the best part. I love the dinosaur walk area!

2. Sunday we spontaneously went out to breakfast! If I could only go out to eat for one meal, it would be breakfast.

3. I am a politics junkie! So guess who was up late Tuesday, watching election results? This girl! It was a great night 😉

4. Wednesday I decided to take Elizabeth to a playground to play. I can’t wait for her to walk so this is more exciting! But she loved going down the slide. She squealed every time! We may need to incorporate that into our weekly activities. If you have a young toddler, what sorts of activities do you like to do? Ideas! Ideas!

5. I finished my last 30 Outfits in 30 Days recap yesterday! Tuesday I’ll be recapping all 30 outfits (stay tuned!). But yesterday, I celebrated being done with the challenge by wearing yoga pants.

Gah! There was a #6!!! What was it??

Oh well. This next week will be pretty boring. Hubby is gone all week to a Nephrology conference. So things will be pretty quiet on the home front. But it will give me a chance to watch all the weird stuff I want! Disney movies, the Royal Wedding (again… for the 30th time), home videos. Yes!

Let me know what you’ve been up to in the comments below!  Have a great weekend!

30 Outfits 30 Days Challenge Fall Edition | Days 25 – 30 Recap

Yay! The last 6 outfits! It’s always a bitter sweet feeling when I finish these up. I’m happy it’s over, because these challenges are a lot of work AND I’m itching to wear other stuff. And, let’s be honest – I started running out of ideas. But it’s such a satisfying feeling to know you’ve found new and fun outfits out of clothes you just pulled from your closet.

But anyway, here are Days 25-30! If you’re not sure what’s up, you can read more here.  But, long story short: I chose 30 items from my closet, and challenged myself to make 30 unique outfits for the next 30 days!

Here are my thoughts from this week’s outfits.

Most Worn Item | It looks like it was my cluster pearl necklace. I love this necklace! So versatile and easy to wear. If a necklace can be easy to wear….

Favorite Outfit | Sigh… several! So hard to pick one. But love the look of Day 3 & 4. They are comfy outfits! But look put together.

Least Favorite Outfit | Day 2 is a good outfit! But not loving it, on me, in picture form. I have a short waist, so tucked in shirts look funny on me. Pair a tucked in shirt with a full volume skirt, and I look a little off balance. But can we talk about those shoes???

This Week’s Surprise | In the Fall, it seems that I gravitate towards outfits that have a topper to them, like a cardigan or jacket. Every outfit, except one, includes that. Huh!

Hardest Thing About This Week | I should have pre-planned out outfits better. I had a hard time picking outfits that weren’t already done. Next time, I need to just map out options ahead of time.

Anywho, let’s recap the outfits! But don’t forget to stop by Tuesday for a recap of the entire 30 days, plus lessons learned and tips if you want to do this yourself.

So, clearly I replaced my wireless shutter release remote! Woohoo! I’m sorry this is almost one whole week late, but better late than never!

Here are Days 19-24! If you’re not sure what’s up, you can read more here.  But, long story short: I chose 30 items from my closet, and challenged myself to make 30 unique outfits for the next 30 days!

Here are my thoughts from this week’s outfits.

Most Worn Item | If I don’t count my skinny jeans, then it’s my favorite brown booties (similar)! Those shoes are just so stinking cute.

Favorite Outfit | Day 5 just made me smile when I put it on. I posted a picture on Instagram of posing with and without the blazer, and it really was 2 separate outfits. Love it!

Least Favorite Outfit | I didn’t really dislike any outfits. But Day 3 was just… boring and easy. I’ll definitely re-wear that outfit, but seeing it amongst the other outfits, it just doesn’t look great.

This Week’s Surprise | Chambray really CAN go with just about any outfit. (But is that really a surprise?)

Hardest Thing About This Week | The logistics this week were tricky, obviously. When your baby crawls away with your wireless remote, it makes it hard to take outfit pics 🙂

Anywho, let’s recap the outfits!

Menu Monday #28

ListCloseUp

Happy Monday!

Our weekend went from being super busy with tons of activity to all the activity being canceled. That ended up being a good thing for us, since Elizabeth AND I ended up with colds. But we tried to go out and do a few activities all together. It was nice Fall weather this weekend and we wanted to take advantage of it. More on Friday for Hey Hey, It’s Friday!

You may recall that last week I mentioned I was going to try one of Oh My Veggie’s recent vegetarian menus. It’s a genius idea – basically a week of menus with links to recipes, and THEN a printable grocery shopping list. Handy! But tactical error – the menu I chose was several sweet potato recipes. And the hubby, apparently, doesn’t like sweet potato. He suffered.

So it’s back to the same ol’ same ol’ this week. 🙂

Monday
Tacos

Tuesday
Basic Spaghetti, Garlic Bread & Roasted Brussel Sprouts

Wednesday (Breakfast for Dinner!)
Pumpkin Pancakes, Fruit, Veggie Sausage

Thursday
DIY Chipotle Burrito Bowls

Friday (Soup Night)
Chili (may use this recipe but not make it vegan) with Corn Bread

Saturday
Black Bean & Butternut Squash Enchiladas

Sunday
Mini Thanksgiving using some of these recipes
But also plan on making my vegetarian meatballs

Hey Hey! It’s Friday!

Happy Trick or Treat Day!

Can you believe it’s Friday already?? AND that it’s the last day of October?? AND that it’s Halloween? Am I the only one that’s slightly annoyed October is over already?

Now that I’ve lamented and mourned… Here’s what has been happening this week.

1. I’ve been tweaking a few things in my DIY Moleskine planner. I’m planning to do an update in a few weeks once I see if this new tweak is as awesome as it seemed. (Side note – did you know that is one of my most popular posts EVER?? Fast fact.)

2. I mentioned yesterday that I couldn’t do my 30 Outfits in 30 Days post because this sneaky toddler crawled away with my wireless shutter remote. It’s really hard to take #ootd pictures without it! I searched ALL DAY and it never turned up. So I ordered another one. There may be two recap posts next week once it arrives! On a related note, it’s just 6 final outfits and then it’s done!

3. I have a cold. Sigh….. Where did I get a cold from? It seriously appeared out of nowhere.

4. The weather is so nice here! It’s only supposed to be a high of 60 today. Perfect, crisp weather. Break out the scarf and boots, friends!

5. Yesterday, I early voted. I printed off a sample ballot, marked my candidates ahead of time, and then brought it in with me. Smart 🙂 Makes voting an open book test. Elizabeth enjoyed herself too. Snagged a “Future Voter” sticker for her baby book!  But, seriously, get out and VOTE!! It’s your duty.

Hope you all have a fun Halloween/Trick or Treat tonight. We’re not big Halloween people, but I do have a bucket of candy to pass out (and eat. Let’s just face it… mainly eat). And I declared trick or treating with Elizabeth would be a pain, so she’ll get dressed up and help hand out candy tonight.

Let me know what you’ve been up to in the comments below!  Have a great weekend!
