High Five for Friday #31 | Life Lately

H54F - A weekly link up, hosted by Cup of Tea, Bright on a Budget, Coffee with Caitlin & Della Devoted

Welcome to High Five for Friday – hosted by KatieTifDella, and Caitlin! If you want to know more, read about it here!

First up… we’ve been brainstorming 🙂 Remember a few weeks back I randomly said we’re thinking about extra ways to get to know one another with H54F? Details/more info is coming, but mark your calendar for Thursday, August 27 at 9:30PM EST for a Google Hangout! We’re kind of envisioning everyone with a drink, in their PJs, curled up on the sofa for a good ol’ chat. But stay tuned!

This week’s featured blogger is Amanda from A Brownie World! My favorite reason for featuring a blogger each week is that I get a chance to meet someone new. She’s a fellow North Carolinian, and she had the best post this week with a round up of what’s going on around the state! I definitely need to pay attention to this. We’re always looking for fun activities that are new to us! Swing on over to Amanda and say hi!! I’m so excited to feature her this week.

Hope you had a great week! Here are some highlights!

1. Thank you all so much for all the birthday hellos last week! It sure was a sweet birthday. Low key and easy, just the way I like it.

2. This week has been such a “go go go” week! Between home stuff, consulting projects AND blog fun, it felt like I was really productive, but yet still so behind. I know when I’m feeling behind on things, it means my priorities are out of whack, and I need to figure out what needs to go. Or at least tackle the most important priorities first. So this weekend I need a bit of a reboot.

3. Elizabeth had one of those weeks where she did a lot of whining, fussing, clinging and was generally discontent. Put all that on top of my feelings of being overwhelmed and it made for a horrible combo. BUT we also captured some sweet moments. I cling to these moments when we are both having not so good days.

Lots of fun with Elizabeth this week!

4. Speaking of clinging to things… when things are going crazy, I value friend time so much! Tonight we’re having dinner with sweet friends – you know the type, the kind where the conversation is easy and there is lots of laughter. And Monday was a fun play date and picnic at Duke Gardens with friends. It’s so smart to find a park with open grass to let kiddos run wild, while the mommies can easily sit, on blankets, and chat while also keeping an eye on everyone. Was such an easy play date! Not to mention Duke Gardens is just beautiful, even when it’s super hot outside. Too bad my photography didn’t do the garden justice.

5. Did you know I’m doing Vlogust over on my YouTube channel? I’m vlogging little snippets each day, and will be uploading something new every single day this month! Hop on over and subscribe so you can keep up. And if you didn’t see, I shared my 5 favorite summer lip colors AND my July monthly favorites. I guess it was a week of favs on the blog! HA!

So what were you up to this week? Let me know! Or better yet, link up!

Fellow bloggers – ready to join in the link up? Just write a blog post about 5 things that made this week awesome! Add your link to your blog post down below (make sure it’s your blog post, not your blog home page!). And then grab the H54F button to add to your post! And go visit at least 3 fellow link uppers AND this week’s featured blogger! It’s just the nice thing to do.

And be sure to tag your posts/pics on social media with #H54F! We really do try to make the rounds and like, comment, retweet, etc! It’s so much fun to support one another, isn’t it?

Vlogging thankfully hasn’t been too bad. I’m trying to keep them short and little vignettes. But the editing process is a bit tedious HAHA! But I hope you do check it out! And when Elizabeth has tough days/weeks like this, I remind myself that I’m not 100% happy happy all the time either, and if I allow myself to have off days, I should be patient with her when she has them. That’s life! Hope you’re having a great weekend!

Sounds like a busy week at your house! Glad it was filled with fun play dates and smiles amidst toddler neediness. I usually blame teething when Olive gets whiny or super clingy. Hope you have a wonderful weekend 🙂

Teething… it’s always teething, isn’t it? Elizabeth has been on the slow tooth sprouting train… it’s taking forever! But I always try to remind myself that while today may be a stressful, needy day, it may not be that way tomorrow. It doesn’t last forever. HAHA! Hope you’re having a wonderful weekend!!

Can I just say thank you so much for picking me to be your featured blogger? I do the What’s Going on in North Carolina posts every Wednesday or Thursday each week!
Girl time is a must when things are going a bit crazy. I am looking forward to my time with my closest gal pal today. It helps us get back to being centered!
    Have a beautiful weekend!

We were so excited to feature you this week! Glad you’re here and are linking up for H54F! Now that I know the NC posts are weekly, I need to check that regularly. We’re always looking for fun things, especially outside of the Triangle! And yes – girl time is so important! If nothing else to sit around and just laugh 🙂 Hope you’re having a wonderful weekend!

Ooh, a Google Hangout! I’ve never done one of those before; hopefully I’ll be able to make it!

I love that you’re open when your week isn’t the best, and yet still so positive about it. The pic of you and Elizabeth in your crowns is super cute!! Hope your weekend is fuss-free!

    • Katie @ Cup of Tea says:

Every week isn’t perfect – that’s just life! What usually stresses me out are things that I can control. If I can’t control it, there’s no point in worrying about it. But if I CAN control it (like tackling a to-do list, taking on too much stuff, etc) then it stresses me out. Le sigh… Hope you’re having a wonderful weekend!

I’m not sure what a google hangout is but I’m in! Will you be explaining details for us newbies? Sounds like a fun time. I can’t even imagine your week being fussy. You seem all smiles even in the midst of crazy. Your daughter – amazingly cute.

    • Katie @ Cup of Tea says:

We’ll definitely have more info once we nail down the details. BUT a Google Hangout is like Skype or FaceTime for a group of people. It’s live video, so we can all talk to one another. Should be lots of fun!! And yes, that’s true that despite feeling overwhelmed I do try to stay positive. BUT that’s not all the time! HAHA! There are days where I’d rather curl up in a corner and weep. HA! Hope you’re having a wonderful weekend!

  5. Whitney says:

I’m so excited for the google hangout! Vlogust has been great so far – can’t wait to see more! Thanks again for all you girls do to make this linkup a community!

    • Katie @ Cup of Tea says:

I think the Google Hangout would be fun! We’ll see if logistically we can pull it together, BUT it will be fun 🙂

    • Katie @ Cup of Tea says:

Oh hooray!!! Glad it sounds like fun to you! We’re fingers crossed hoping it will actually work out. HAHA! Hope you’re having a great weekend, too.

  6. Brenda says:

Happy Friday, sweets! I can definitely relate to feeling like you’re all “go go go”, yet somehow still behind! My husband and I actually spent some of our date night last night (because it was guaranteed to be interruption free – lol) to prioritize things and set up a specific plan rather than feeling like we’re being pulled a gazillion different directions, yet not quite tackling things! Ours had to do with multiple home improvement projects we’re in the midst of, so the circumstances may be different, but I can relate to the feeling and am sure your reboot this week will be helpful! 😉 OK, I can NOT get enough of the mommy/daughter cuteness in your vlogs (loving them!) or these sweet pics!! You two are such a sweet pair! Love the tiaras, girls! 😉 Have a lovely weekend! xo – Brenda // Chatting Over Chocolate

    • Katie @ Cup of Tea says:

That’s great advice sitting down together with my husband and redoing some priorities. I’m horrible at letting go of things and admitting I can’t do that right now… so my feelings of being overwhelmed are really my own fault, taking on too much. Sigh…. And thank you for the happy comments of me and Elizabeth! I’m grateful we get along most of the time 😉

  7. Ashley says:

I am so excited for the Google Hangout! I love the sweet photos of you and Elizabeth. It is hard to have those weeks when you feel behind. I hope you can have a good reboot. ;). I am going to have to check out you YouTube channel, given how much I love watching your vlogs! I can’t wait. Have a great weekend,

    • Katie @ Cup of Tea says:

I think the Google Hangout will be fun! We’re still working on logistics, but should be a hoot! And swing on over to YT! 🙂 Hope you’re having a wonderful weekend too!
