Welcome to High Five for Friday – hosted by me, Tif, and Della! Come, read up on what we’ve been up to this week and get to know some amazing bloggers down below!
Today’s featured blogger is Candice from She’s Leaning In! Candice is a SoCal girl who’s an amazing interior designer. She also loves all things beauty – if you need a recommendation on a makeup item, go to Candice! Her Instagram Stories are also delightful. Did I mention she’s expecting?? So much going on in her life right now. Reading her post about the baby registry brings back so many memories! Swing over and say hi!
This week has been a hard one for me. You know when you have so much swirling around in your head, or big projects to tackle, but you don’t know where to start? It feels so overwhelming…
I don’t really get stressed or overwhelmed. I normally have a handle on what needs to get done. But the last few weeks have felt like there is so much going on I can’t keep up.
The funny thing is, there really isn’t much going on beyond the normal. So weird!
But that’s why it’s been quiet around here the last few weeks. Between us being sick the last few weeks and too much going on, I naturally have pulled away from this blog. So sorry about that!
What do you do when you’re feeling overwhelmed? Have any tips to share?
So anyway, nothing really exciting happened this week. But I do have one funny Elizabeth Story for you. Because that girl is a hoot.
We were driving home yesterday, and I was complaining that there were too many slow drivers. I said “Everyone, stop being so pokey!”.
Elizabeth often whispers what you say, like she’s trying to learn what you’re saying. And I heard her behind me whispering “everyone, stop being pokey”.
Then, she started saying “Mommy, the cars aren’t stopping being pokey. They didn’t listen to you. I’ll try!”. And then she shouted “EVERYONE! STOP BEING POKEY!”
She shouted that same phrase over and over. It was hilarious! At one point, she wanted me to roll down her window so she could shout at the other cars.
You have to be careful with this one……..
How was your week?? Can’t wait to hear all about it!

Elizabeth is too cute! Love that she was trying to help you out there! Silly pokey people! We’ve been dealing with sickness here and I think that just getting behind on everyday things and playing catchup on top of the normal routine can seem like a bit much. I can completely relate. I’ll be praying for ya, sweet friend! Much love and wishes for a wonderful weekend ahead! xo – Brenda // ChattingOverChocolate.com
YES! It’s definitely just being sick constantly. I’m feeling just behind on all sorts of things. But I’m ok with resting. Have a wonderful weekend!!!
Hendrik does the exact same thing with new words/phrases – whispering them to himself, and you can just see those wheels turning as he figures out how he can use it himself. Cracks me up!
And hang in there… I hate that swirling thoughts feeling. Sometimes it just takes a good to do list. Or just a break from everything 🙂
The to-do list did get wheeled out. I had been out of that habit too… so I had a million thoughts swirling in my head. Le sigh.
Isn’t the whispering fun? I really do like it. I can tell she’s trying to memorize it to use it again 😉 So sneaky!
At least all you said was pokey! HAHA. I’ve also been feeling overwhelmed. I’m not very great at incremental planning — if I can’t do it all at once I tend to procrastinate. Now, this worked when I didn’t have Phoenix, but not anymore!
Well isn’t that a relief! Can you imagine if I blurted out something else???? AHAHA! And yes – we’re the same. If it’s not something I can do all in one shot, it takes me forever to just start it. Even if it’s a simple project… just getting started is the hardest. I was way more productive before kids!
Oh gosh, she’s too funny! I feel like that’s something my niece would do. She’s a riot – but you really have to watch what you say around her! haha

Yes! Thank you for featuring me and the shout outs! I’m such a nutter today I finally linked up! Thanks again!
Thinking of you!!! I think constant sickness and terrible sleep really messes with my mind. So I try to combat it with an early bedtime, making lists and fresh air. It’s easy to get in a funk this time of year. And Elizabeth’s pokey story was funny. It’s a humbling thing when your little people start repeating your words 🙂
Stop being pokey!!! Too funny. Elizabeth knows what’s up. 🙂 I’m sorry you’ve been feeling overwhelmed lately. I haven’t had too much interest in blogging myself, and it’s just been the usual stuff going on for me too. Bleh. Hope your weekend is a little better!
Oh my goodness…if anyone repeated what I said in the car we’d be in trouble. LOL. I had one of those weeks recently where I felt like I couldn’t keep up with anything – work, home, blogging, it was all crazy. I just did what I could, and rode it out. Things change and suddenly you’re back in control again. Hang in there! <3
Elizabeth is just too cute! Darling! I’m sorry you’ve been feeling overwhelmed! I get like that, too. A good list helps ease my mind, even if I don’t really use it. Just the act of ordering things helps. However, when I do want to use it, I highlight 3 of the most important items and go from there. Really helps keep me focused. Hope you’ve had a terrific and relaxing weekend!
