H54F - A weekly link up, hosted by Cup of Tea, Bright on a Budget, Coffee with Caitlin & Della Devoted

Welcome to High Five for Friday – hosted by me, Tif, and Della! Come, read up on what we’ve been up to this week and get to know some amazing bloggers down below!

Today’s featured blogger is Candice from She’s Leaning In! Candice is a SoCal girl who’s an amazing interior designer. She also loves all things beauty – if you need a recommendation on a makeup item, go to Candice! Her Instagram Stories are also delightful. Did I mention she’s expecting?? So much going on in her life right now. Reading her post about the baby registry brings back so many memories! Swing over and say hi!

This week has been a hard one for me. You know when you have so much swirling around in your head, or big projects to tackle, but you don’t know where to start? It feels so overwhelming…

I don’t really get stressed or overwhelmed. I normally have a handle on what needs to get done. But the last few weeks have felt like there is so much going on I can’t keep up.

The funny thing is, there really isn’t much going on beyond the normal. So weird!

But that’s why it’s been quiet around here the last few weeks. Between us being sick the last few weeks and too much going on, I naturally have pulled away from this blog. So sorry about that!

What do you do when you’re feeling overwhelmed? Have any tips to share?

So anyway, nothing really exciting happened this week. But I do have one funny Elizabeth Story for you. Because that girl is a hoot.

We were driving home yesterday, and I was complaining that there were too many slow drivers. I said “Everyone, stop being so pokey!”.

Elizabeth often whispers what you say, like she’s trying to learn what you’re saying. And I heard her behind me whispering “everyone, stop being pokey”.

Then, she started saying “Mommy, the cars aren’t stopping being pokey. They didn’t listen to you. I’ll try!”. And then she shouted “EVERYONE! STOP BEING POKEY!”

She shouted that same phrase over and over. It was hilarious! At one point, she wanted me to roll down her window so she could shout at the other cars.

You have to be careful with this one……..

How was your week?? Can’t wait to hear all about it!

High Five for Friday #110 – A Week of Fun Moments

H54F - A weekly link up, hosted by Cup of Tea, Bright on a Budget, Coffee with Caitlin & Della Devoted

Welcome to High Five for Friday – hosted by me, Tif, and Della! Come, read up on what we’ve been up to this week and get to know some amazing bloggers down below!

Today’s featured blogger is Sarah from Loving Little Dixie! Fact – she and her husband are currently renovating their old Farmhouse! Super cool (and crazy – all that construction around you!)! Their plans look so cool! And love Sarah’s post Do You Still Love Your Husband?.  Amidst the chaos of life it can easily take a toll on a marriage. It was such a good read! Swing over and say hello to Sarah!

Another week done! Seriously, this week just flew right by. There were a ton of funny kid moments this week!

1. On Sunday, Elizabeth was pretending to talk on a phone. She was having quite the chatty, one-sided conversation with someone named Stacey. Next thing I know, she asked for the front door to be opened because “Stacey is here!”. HAHA! Stacey came over for a play date, and the two of them played tag for about 15 minutes, then took a break to draw pictures. Stacey entertained Elizabeth for at least 30 minutes. I hope she comes back to visit again soon.

2. Valentine’s Day was relaxed and quiet. I can’t remember the last time my husband and I went out for Valentine’s Day. But we still make it a fun day at home. Elizabeth and I decorated some pretty bright pink cupcakes! And I did my best to snap a pic of the two kiddos. They have mastered the “One will smile, One will look away” pose!

3. William has become quite the crawler, and he’s getting speedy! Yesterday he disappeared…. I found him all the way back in the play room (we were originally in the kitchen… other end of the house) and making quick work of emptying a toy shelf! HAHA! But at least these little monster pants are funny as he’s crawling away from me.

4. I got to spend some good friend time with friends (duh! HA!) yesterday. We have a regular thang, and it makes me happy. Our kiddos play, we chit chat. Life is good!

5. This one hasn’t happened yet, but REALLY excited about our date night tonight. Dinner and then we are seeing Jay Leno LIVE! It’s going to be so much fun! The anticipation I have had this week makes this worthy to be listed as a Top 5.

How was your week?? Can’t wait to hear all about it!

High Five for Friday #109 – 5 Things I Love

H54F - A weekly link up, hosted by Cup of Tea, Bright on a Budget, Coffee with Caitlin & Della Devoted

Welcome to High Five for Friday – hosted by me, Tif, and Della! Come, read up on what we’ve been up to this week and get to know some amazing bloggers down below!

Today’s featured blogger is Tara from Michael and Tara! She is a wife, momma to 2 kiddos, and loves to capture memories! One of my favorite recent posts is this one on her 2017 mantras. They are ALL great reminders to live life slowly, look around, and enjoy the moment. Swing over to say hello and meet Tara!

With Valentine’s Day next week, I thought I would share 5 things that I really LOVE!

1. I love spontaneous family days! Last Saturday was going to be a busy day for us at church – everyone was on deck to do something and it was going to be a long day, PLUS both William and I feeling sick. There was a weird water shut down in Chapel Hill (where our church is located) and the water was shut off. So church was canceled! We found ourselves with a completely empty day of rest! We ate a long, fancy breakfast, we played, we walked, we rested…. glorious!

2. I love friends who are up for random play dates! The weather was weird – cold and then really warm! So it was the perfect week for some outdoor time. We played at the park twice. William even got to enjoy the swing, happily, for the first time!

3. I love quiet one-on-one time with my kiddos! They may occasionally drive me crazy (like REALLY crazy, as I expressed over on IG Stories this week) but I do love when we get time together. Elizabeth will always happily do a craft with me!

And William enjoyed some crawling peek-a-boo this week!

Peek-a-boo! #sahmlife #8monthsold #crawlingbaby

4. I love the online community! I vented a bit about a challenging day on Wednesday over on IG Stories and so many of you, friends and strangers, reached out to say “been there and right with you!”.  The internet can be a time suck, BUT it also creates the coolest, warmest community!

5. I love my husband!!! It’s an understatement when I say that weekly Date Nights have put a spring in our step. Lately we had been feeling like parents, not husband and wife. But that’s changed recently and it’s just so nice!

Menu Monday | Warm + Cozy Foods

Menu Monday

It’s Monday! Did you stay up for the Super Bowl last night? We watched through to the half time show and then went to bed. Thrilling night! (You know you’re getting older when heading to bed sounds more delightful than the Super Bowl!)

Who’s ready for a good ol’ fashioned menu post this morning? It’s been a while since I’ve done one of these. To be honest, I was getting bored with this format every Monday, so I’ve been trying to switch it up when Monday does roll around. But today just seemed like a great menu day.

On the menu this week there are mostly cozy comfort foods. Those just called to me when I was scanning past meals. My husband requested the Corn Chowder, which surprised me! He normally isn’t a fan but I’m living it up while I can! I’ll be making a homemade bread for that soup! Trying to check off an item from my cooking resolutions!

I also added a weekend breakfast treat to try. Not sure if it will be made on Saturday or Sunday, but thought it would be nice to plan one.

Anyway, here’s this week’s menu:

Quick Tacos
Bombay House Tikka Masala
Sweet Corn Chowder with No-Knead Crusty Artisan Bread
Skillet Mac + Cheese
Scottish Pancakes

High Five for Friday #108 – Another Week, Another Sickness

H54F - A weekly link up, hosted by Cup of Tea, Bright on a Budget, Coffee with Caitlin & Della Devoted

Welcome to High Five for Friday – hosted by me, Tif, and Della! Come, read up on what we’ve been up to this week and get to know some amazing bloggers down below!

Today’s featured blogger is Brenda from Chatting Over Chocolate! If you haven’t met Brenda (which I doubt!) she is just the sweetest, friendliest voice in the blogger world. She loves sharing all the adventures of her family of 4! And if you EVER are planning a trip to Disney World, she is your travel planner! She is an expert! Please swing over and say hello to Brenda and get to know a new friend!

Ah, another week…..

1. On Saturday we had our big GRAND opening celebration for our new church! It was jam-packed with about 400 people in our 200 person sanctuary. HAHA! Lots of music, lots of fellowship and lots of excitement. Elizabeth spent a good chunk of the song service just dancing away. It was adorable! The whole event was recorded (3+ hours of service) but if you want to see my small roll, you can watch me do the children’s sermon. It was so cool to do the very first one!

2. We’ve been hit by ANOTHER sickness…. William has a non-stop runny nose…. Elizabeth is crabby, but claims she feels “just fine, mom…”. And I have a head cold. Boo! William has also been waking up in the middle of the night, off and on fussing, for about an hour. So we are all sleep-deprived. Bottom line, we’re a fun household…. *sarcasm*

3. Another week, another GREAT date night! Last night we went to a new restaurant in downtown Durham, The Viceroy. It was an amazing Indian restaurant. Delicious food! Amazing ambiance! It was just a great dinner. I tried to snap some pics on my IG stories, but it was too dark so the impact was lost. But believe me – it was awesome. I should do a post of all our favorite places to eat… Durham is stuffed full of amazing restaurants!

4. We had a beautiful day on Wednesday, so we headed out on a neighborhood walk. You might have seen on IG that a walk with Elizabeth these days is oh so slow… she stops and picks up every stick, rock and pine needle. I love that she’s a little nature explorer, but I do miss a normal paced walk. HAHA!

5. Who’s excited for the Super Bowl? I’m not… but I love Super Bowl food! We’re planning on chili and corn bread! What are you eating for the Super Bowl??

How was your week?? Can’t wait to hear all about it!
