Since we’re already one month down in 2015, I thought it was a good idea to revisit my resolutions for this year. You can read more here, but I’ll tackle it, cliff notes style.
For the home:
- Cut back on frivolous spending – did really good in January! Only had one random “browsing” shopping trip to Target that didn’t yield too many wild items. It could have been much worse!
- Read more. I need to finish the one book I’ve been reading for months before I can really tackle this. I can’t read more than one book at a time!
- Actually learn how to bake a good pie – Haven’t tried this yet….
- Send handwritten notes to friends and family throughout the year – I got the Christmas thank you notes done! Next step is to draft a list of people to send random notes to, and divvy them up throughout the year.
For Elizabeth:
- Be more patient – don’t think I’ll ever truly complete this…. but I’ll keep trying!
- Organize more activities – We were doing really well up until last week! I definitely notice better naps on days when there are more activities and outings.
For Myself:
- Get better at applying eye shadow – ha! There are good days and bad days…. and yesterday was a bad day. I realized one eye lid is more wrinkly than the other. Crease Central!
- Find the perfect “not quite everyday but natural enough to be everyday” foundation – I almost bought the new L’Oreal Infalliable foundation when I was at Target. But I’ll hold off on this resolution until I finish a few other foundations I have stocked up.
For the Blog:
- Get back to YouTube – I had a big recording day last week. Now to edit!
- Take better pictures – I’m getting there!
How are you doing on your New Year’s Resolutions? Or did you skip those this year?? Let me know!

Hi Katie,
I’ve found Loreal to be a good “everyday” brand, too. I’ve been using the Loreal Visible Lift collection. It’s supposed to be anti-aging, but I find it pretty light and good for everyday use. I have the Serum Absolute foundation, the Serum Absolute powder, and the Color Lift Blush. Hope you find something you like!
The fun is in the trying, right?? 🙂 I’m just trying to hurry up and use up those remaining foundations!
Do you use any makeup primer? That got rid of the creases for me 🙂 If you find a good foundation, please share!
Katie @ Sweet Little Ones
I’ve only recently started using an eyelid primer. On my face I’ve been using the L’Oreal Magic Skin Beautifier BB Cream, which I love. But I may need to just get an actual primer… I’m sure it would help!! I’ll definitely be sharing my favs as I go!
I discovered my first eyelid wrinkle the other day. The struggle is real. 🙂
It is, indeed!! All my wrinkles are apparently hanging out on my left eyelid. Nowhere else!
I purchased that foundation as well and I love it! I’m going to do a review on the blog next week!
Glad to hear it’s a winner! I do want to get it when I run out of my current few foundations!
I’m trying to read more too, but I’m a slow reader so it takes me forever to get through a book! I’ve found the best time for me to read is before bed. Glad to know I’m not the only one who struggles with eye shadow. The YT tutorials I have seen make it seem so easy!
Don’t those beauty experts on YT make it seem so easy?? Maybe I just have a funny eye shape or something, but it’s definitely harder than it looks.
My favorite face primer is the POREfessional from benefit. This primer is expensive here in Germany, i don’t know what the price is in the USA, but i think it is worth its price.
I’ve heard great things about that one!! I’ve just never bought it because it is a little expensive here too… But I should just try it! Shoot – if it makes me look better, it’s worth it 🙂
Wonderful and attainable ideas! Try joining a book club! It’s great fun and definitely encourages you to read a lot!
A book club is a great idea! I need to do that!
Love the update 🙂 It’s always nice hearing how things are going.
