High Five for Friday

H54F - A weekly link up, hosted by Cup of Tea, Bright on a Budget, Coffee with Caitlin & Della Devoted

Welcome to High Five for Friday – hosted by Katie, Caitlin, Tif and Della! If you want to know more, read about it here!

This week’s featured blogger is Andrea at The Pineapple Cake! She’s an American living in Australia, and has a pretty amazing blog. I love a good travel post, and I really like one of her latest, What to Bring on an International Flight. I’ve always wanted a quilted duffle like the one she featured. Go check her out and say hi!!

And now, my not-so-exciting, short week.

1. This is the second week in a row where I’ve been sick. Bleh. Needless to say, nothing much happened this week. I spent all day Thursday laying on the couch, and had Elizabeth watch WAY too many episodes of Daniel Tiger and Peppa Pig.

2. I have been counting down the days to the Lilly for Target launch! Tif and I have been planning a fun giveaway AND Lilly haul posts to share our fun stuff. We’ll be up early snagging our wishlist (mine and Tif’s) items on Sunday.

3. We celebrated Elizabeth’s half birthday last weekend. She had such a fun time! And she managed to smile for several pictures!

4. Because we’re always behind, husband and I are watching Season 4 of Game of Thrones right now, so we can watch Season 5.  Game of Thrones is just awesome! My husband has a hard time keeping up with the 15 different plot lines, but it’s our show du jour right now.

5. I mentioned this in the Menu Monday post, but if there are any creative food people out there, I need help. We’re going to a fun birthday party tomorrow that’s a Chopped Challenge party. I need to bring a dish that contains sausage, cheese (any kind), rice and flan (or flan mix). Any thoughts??? I’m stumped. Definitely will be bringing a back-up dish.

How was your week? Can’t wait to visit y’all and catch up!

I have a feeling we are going to be seeing a lot of Lily around blog land today! We have so many of the same things on our Lilylists 🙂 Hope you feel better very, very soon – two weeks is no joke!!

I love Game of Thrones! We just bought the new season but haven’t started on it yet. Making it through the new House of Cards season first. Thanks for hosting the link-up! It’s been a while since I participated so glad to be back today.

We’re glad you’re back! You’ve been missed!!! (I have noticed!) We need to find a way to watch GoT Season 5 since we don’t have HBO…. because we only have a few more episodes of Season 4 left! How are you liking the latest season of HoC?

    • Katie @ Cup of Tea says:

The collection had some cute stuff! It’s a shame it all disappeared so quickly!!! Hope you’re having a great weekend.

I’m sorry you’ve been under the weather! Hopefully next week will be better for you. I have NO suggestions for your chopped entree…good luck with that! 🙂

HAHA I basically gave up on the Chopped Challenge. My head wasn’t in the game after feeling icky. So I just came with a dish without the flan. But I was impressed – most people pulled through using all 4 ingredients!

Hope you feel better soon! For the Chopped challenge, could you do some sort of quiche (by adding eggs and milk to the ingredients) or a sausage and rice cheese ball served with crackers? I’ve always thought Chopped was a pretty entertaining show – good luck!

    • Katie @ Cup of Tea says:

I am feeling much better! Your quiche idea was what someone did bring – she added the necessary flan component to the crust. She used a flan powder mix (genius). It tasted pretty good!

Hope you get to feeling better soon! I’m loving the sounds of this chopped challenge party you mentioned. I don’t have any great recipe suggestions, but I would love to hear how your party goes and what you ended up making. Could you do an appetizer dip or like a mexican dip with sausage, rice and cheese add in some peppers and bring tortilla tips to dip??

    • Katie @ Cup of Tea says:

I am feeling much better now, thanks!! And as for what I brought… I really didn’t have much energy to run out and buy the specialty ingredient (aka sausage and flan!) so I brought a pot of rice and beans… I figured I would bring normal food in case the other experiments didn’t work. I could easily think of recipes to use sausage, rice and cheese together, but including that darn flan was so hard! But one of the yummy dishes that we did eat today was a quiche of sausage, egg, rice and cheese with a flan powder mix in the crust. Really yummy!
