Cup of Tea Chat | A Touch of the Random…

I’ve hit a bit of a writer’s block… so while I’m working that out, let’s have a good old fashioned chit chat, over tea, about nothing all that exciting.

(Speaking of writer’s block… did you know that I added a “request a post” feature?
Check out the right side bar! Help me out of this funk! HAHA!)

I spent a good chunk of last night, while the hubby was working, looking at planners and then cruising YouTube. Does anyone else get sucked into the YouTube zone? When you click on one video and then you spy another one… on and on?

Apparently May is Zombie Awareness Month…. I’m rarely aware, let alone about Zombies…. so it’s bound to be an interesting month.

I mentioned a few weeks ago that I did a huge closet clear out, and it’s been just delightful dealing with less clothes. Here’s a fast fact for you – I have about the same number of tops as I do cardigans and sweaters…. problem?

But since I’ve rid myself of excess clothing (out of the closet, not from myself) I have been getting into finding a good skincare routine. Anyone with dry skin, but that skin is going through a midlife crisis? What do you use?? I feel like one moment my skin is all dry, and then the next day I have 4 zits. It’s really obnoxious.

Elizabeth and I went on a hike this morning. I was internally complaining that it was such a SLOW walk, because she stopped to pick up every stick and leaf, and was hoping we could pick up the pace. I ate my words about 2 minutes later when she melted down and I had to carry her the remaining mile. I broke a sweat…. not cool.

Speaking of that hike, I also stopped Elizabeth twice from sticking a stick in her ear.

I have been toying around with the idea of doing a weekly vlog. Would anyone be down for seeing that? Or would that be too much Katie?

What’s currently sitting in your Amazon cart? I have a mop. Do you ever add things to your cart, and then walk away, for time to think about it? I don’t know why purchasing a mop requires several weeks (yes… weeks) of thinking, but it does.

I need to work on getting some family pictures and art up on our walls. Two years later, and we have quite a few bare walls! I have quite a few Cook’s Illustrated covers saved (like this one) to use for my kitchen… and several platters that could be hung up. But I’m really bad at choosing art! I think I just need to do a Minted browse.

What’s been on your mind lately??
And any tips for combating writer’s block?

Yes to weekly vlogs! YouTube needs more Katie!

I’m no stranger to the YouTube vortex. I usually start with grocery hauls and it sucks me in from there. At least it’s sort of educational… 🙂

HAHA! YES! I tell myself every time I get sucked in to YouTube that, for the most part, I’m learning something… I’m also addicted to the Dollar Tree haul videos! So many interesting finds at the Dollar Tree. And I may fiddle around with a weekly vlog this week! Granted, it is Wednesday…. but I haven’t really done anything all that exciting the last few days 🙂

I like the good old fashioned chit chat. My skin is also so difficult in the last weeks. I have dry skin that need a lot of hydration, but on the other hand my skin becomes oily with some products. So, i’m still on the hunt for the perfect products. By the way, i’m back from the honeymoon. I loved the chance to visit some shops that we don’t have in Germany: Sephora, can you imagine there is no sephora in Germany?, jcpenney, jcrew…and of course macys.
Take a look on my blog to view some wedding photos and there is also a link to our new york travel blog with a lot of pictures.

That sounds a lot like my skin, Fee. Dry, but the wrong product causes issues.

Welcome back from your trip!!! Can’t wait to see pictures from your honeymoon. I’m glad you got to visit some favorite stores!

Ugh, yes, the YouTube vortex. It’s like falling down the rabbit hole.

Also, totally with you about dealing with less clothes! I did a major (I mean MAJOR) closet clean out a while ago, and the excitement still hasn’t wore off.

I know! I’ve always cleared out clothes regularly, but this was the first time it was a true overhaul. I went from having tons of clothes, but feeling like I had nothing to wear, to a closet full of options. Neat-o!

Alright! I’m feeling a little more confident about the whole vlog thing! Thank you! I liked the random post too… I think this needs to be a regular thing…

You should do the vlogs. There can never be too much Katie. Never. YouTube videos always suck me in. I have a weird obsession with seeing other people put on make-up.

YouTube is the best/worst thing ever, right? I watch the makeup folks too, wishing I had their skills. I think I may do vlogs! Have to play around with it a little…. But thanks for the vote of confidence!

I always have things in my amazon cart that I save for later… usually it’s books… toddler parenting books or fun books for me. I still need to do some work on my closet to purge and only save my favorites. Good luck working through your writers block… have you ever done a home tour? how do you organize your accessories? Favorite date nights?

    • Katie @ Cup of Tea says:

Any good toddler book recommendations?? After a morning like today, I need some guidance! Those are some good post ideas. I haven’t really done a home tour yet, but when I’ve thought about doing one, it’s always “well I will do one AFTER I do this…”, and then it’s too late. For example, my Easter/Spring decorations post… by the time I actually got them all up AND took pictures, it was well past Easter! HA! But I need to work on that post.

My husband gave me a Midori Traveler’s Notebook for our anniversary this week. I have been SUCKED IN to Youtube and general searches about it. Some people make theirs looks so amazing!

    • Katie @ Cup of Tea says:

I saw you posted that. I need to watch a few videos myself!! Happy belated anniversary 🙂

  7. Colleen says:

Yes, do the vlog! You are so sweet and personable and your videos are always so fun to watch! Yikes, I will have to tell my husband it’s Zombie Awareness Month, lol!

Have you looked into the Erin Condren life planners? My mom got one around Christmas and it is AWESOME! A little pricey, but all the good planners are anymore, aren’t they? Also, I think weekly vlogs would be great! I’m just nosey and I love seeing what people are up to, haha.
