High Five for Friday + A Haul, Strawberries and Some Rain

H54F - A weekly link up, hosted by Cup of Tea, Bright on a Budget, Coffee with Caitlin & Della Devoted

Welcome to High Five for Friday – hosted by Katie, Caitlin, Tif and Della! If you want to know more, read about it here!

Whitney from Come Home For Comfort

This week our featured blogger is Whitney at Come Home for Comfort! Even if you’re a newish reader to this blog, you know I’ve referenced Whitney’s posts often! (I especially loved her recent one on Princess Catherine) I also included Whitney in a post about my favorite blogs. Whitney writes about a variety of topics, but what I love most are her posts about marriage. She is such an encouragement. I often get inspired to do sweet things for my husband because of her posts. She has become such a great blogging friend! Swing by and say hi!

Did everyone have good weeks? Ours wasn’t particularly interesting, but here are the highlights!

1. I swear I just went in to Walgreens to buy some milk….

High Five for Friday recap!

2. Elizabeth and I went strawberry picking! I picked a baby in strawberries (8 lbs 9 oz.) and Elizabeth ate about a pound’s worth. She looked like she had murdered someone by the end of it…

3. And those strawberries are so yummy! They deserve their own highlight.

4. While I don’t talk about church all that often, our church is going through some fun times right now, and it’s exciting! Our church is building a new church home, and I’m on the building committee. We had a meeting Wednesday talking about and planning for our ground breaking on June 13! YAY!

5. Thursday morning it poured buckets. So naturally we just popped the deck door open and watched it rain. (I swear, she chose that dress herself!)

I did record it all too! If you fancy a watch while you drink your coffee, then have at it! Thank you all so much for your kind comments last week about my first vlog. It is a lot of fun to do! Not sure if it will be a weekly occurrence yet, but it’s still a fun change!

Your daughter is adorable! My kids would looks the same if we went strawberry picking I’m sure. 🙂 So what did you make with that haul??? We planted strawberries last year, and they’re coming up great this year! They are full of little green berries right now! Can’t wait til we can harvest them! Sitting out and watching the rain is one of my fave childhood memories of summer 🙂 I need to do that with my kids this year! Thanks for hosting! -Jess

I picked 8 lbs and we just ate them! How crazy! I gave a few pounds away to friends and then hauled the rest up to my in laws that weekend. When I pick produce it never occurs to me to do something with them, but I should! Shoot, if nothing else slice and freeze them!! Don’t know why I thought we could eat 8 pounds on our own haha! So cool that you have your own strawberry patch growing. Love it! I love listening to rain. Just so pleasant.

Cute vlog! You did great. It’s hard to video and talk and stay on topic and you are doing it! And it’s pretty funny! I do the same thing every time I go into Target or a drugstore. I come out with $30 worth of stuff and I’m not even sure what I got….

    • Katie @ Cup of Tea says:

Thank you for that sweet comment!! And shoot, if it makes you chuckle a little, then perfect. I just need to work on shortening it up a bit. Target… it’s just a black hole, isn’t it??

    • Katie @ Cup of Tea says:

Raspberries??? I’d loose Elizabeth every day to that – she loves raspberries more than strawberries 🙂 HAHA!

Thank you so much for the sweet feature! I’m so glad we’re bloggy friends! 🙂

I LOL’ed at your description of Elizabeth’s post-strawberry eating look. Haha! What a cutie!

Can’t wait to watch the vlog!

  4. Mariah says:

Oh my goodness she may be a mess with those strawberries but she looks SOO happy!! Makes me think of one of my favorite quotes “Let them be little” 🙂 and I totally feel you on the Walgreens trip…I can’t go into Target and come out with only what I needed. It’s not possible!

    • Katie @ Cup of Tea says:

Walgreen… Target… the grocery store… it’s all a struggle! HAHA! And yes, I struggle with letting Elizabeth just be messy, but she was just so happy!

  5. Jaelan says:

I do the SAME thing at Walgreens. I can’t get out of there without something I didn’t go for.

I’ll have to come back and watch your vlog! Last week’s was too adorable.

    • Katie @ Cup of Tea says:

They get you with all the pretty displays, don’t they? All those fun festive colors… You just can’t help but browse. 🙂

  6. Megan says:

So cute and once again, loved the video. And no, you don’t look sickly. You’re skin is beautiful. The strawberry picking sounds like so much fun.

  7. Ashley says:

Those strawberries look amazing! I love them. Yum! I hope you have a lovely weekend! Love the vlog, by the way! You have such a great, bubbly personality and you are so much fun to watch. It feels like having tea with a friend!

    • Katie @ Cup of Tea says:

Oh thank you!!! I know vlogs take some practice to be entertaining/interesting, but it’s fun to do every once in a while!! And the strawberries were so good!!

  8. Emily says:

Oh the strawberries! I cannot believe how tasty they look! We have strawberry plants popping up in our garden…we will be lucky to have a dozen all year. 🙂

    • Katie @ Cup of Tea says:

Oh my goodness, these strawberries were so delicious. Nothing like freshly picked ripe strawberries. I’m jealous of your strawberry plants, though! Strawberries just for you, lucky!

  9. Whitney says:

I’ve always wanted to go strawberry picking but have never done it. It looked like a delicious outing 🙂 I’m also hoping your Menu Mondays will be filled with yummy strawberry recipes

    • Katie @ Cup of Tea says:

Strawberry picking was such fun! I used to do it all the time as a child, but this was my first time as an adult. Memories! And we seriously just ate all the strawberries. Didn’t do a thing with them!! They were so yummy!
