Welcome to High Five for Friday – hosted by Katie, Tif and Della! If you want to know more, read about it here!
This week’s featured blogger is Kate from Classy Living. She’s a wife, a teacher, and loves baking! Speaking of being a teacher, she’s had a super busy summer writing curriculum. No breaks for her!! Swing on over and say hi! So excited to be featuring her.
Anyone else feel like the weeks are just flying by?? I can’t catch my breath! Here’s what we have been up to this week.
1. I’ve been trying to squeeze in a lot of exercise this week. The last month or so I’ve been doing early morning walks with a friend and it’s been delightful! This week I’ve also added a video workout in the afternoon. Mercy! I’m sore. But happy! I decided to do these videos while Elizabeth was up and playing so she could “exercise” with me. And if she got bored hopping around with me, she just continued to play. Win Win!
2. I FINALLY got a chance to film a sneak peek of my new planner this week! Which means I can finally use it now. HA! I just LOVE this planner. It’s pretty, but simple. If you missed the blog post (which went live last night… so I wouldn’t be surprised if you did), check it out!
3. Anyone else have a hard time keeping up with magazine subscriptions? I do! We used up some airline miles for subscriptions and it’s just a non-stop flow to our door. I’m finally whittling down a large stack and managed to find this gem that hasn’t been read yet. Better late then never, right?
4. This week we’ve been enjoying the family dinners I blogged about back in the Spring. It’s just so nice having five whole dinners, tucked in the fridge, ready to be reheated! It’s been such a nice treat! Our fav so far this week was a delicious veggie enchilada. So yummy!
5. Our family has entered the 21st century. After 5 years, we caved and bought a TV. We’ve managed to survive on computers only for TV and movie watching. But on a whim we decided we should get a TV. It’s delightful! But I really don’t like having a TV over my fireplace. Anyone have any decor ideas? I just threw some stuff up there to make it less obnoxious, but I need some ideas!
6. Are you ready for a bonus? I just wish I had video of this. But let me tell you my bee story.
Sunday morning we had a bunch of friends over for a potluck brunch. Tons of fun! While we were saying goodbye, a bee flew into the house. The little bugger flew up to our second story entry window, so we figured he’d just stay there. We forgot all about him! Until that night.
My husband worked an 11PM – 7AM shift that night, so as he headed downstairs to leave for work, he manages to disturb the bee who was peacefully resting on our stair banister! And that little bee hightails it for our bedroom, where I’m peacefully sitting in our bed, slathering on lotion, getting ready to go to bed! PANIC!
Clearly, I can’t go to sleep knowing there is a bee buzzing around in my room! So I had to hunt him down. I managed to shoo him to our overhead light. After several unsuccessful attempts at whacking him with a rolled up magazine, I moved on to trying to whack him down with a shirt. BLAM! Successful! He landed on my bed. So I whacked him again, just to be safe.
Unfortunately, that final whack whooshed him off the bed onto our pile of throw pillows. I couldn’t find him! I was slowly moving pillows, one by one, trying to uncover him, when he slowly crawled up, out of the grave! He was alive!!!! So there I am, at midnight, hitting a bee wildly with a shoe, hoping to finally vanquish him. Which I do. But I had adrenaline pumping for about an hour afterwards! HA!
Sorry… that was a bit of a story! But it was such a funny one, after the fact, that I had to share. Maybe you had to be there… I don’t know… if you read the whole thing, I’m so impressed!
So what were you up to this week? Let me know! Or better yet, link up!
And this week I’ll be sure to get around and visit you all. I’ve been SO BEHIND on that these last few weeks.

One of my biggest phobias is flying insects that sting. If a bee buzzes around my ear, you might think I’m either trying to break dance or I’m having an epileptic seizure. I wouldn’t have been able to go to bed either. Yeah for the T.V.
Yes! I don’t mind bugs in general, but if you buzz by my face or ears I will flip out!
Hi Katie, it’s nice to ‘meet’ you and thank you for hosting such a wonderful party. It’s great that you’re working out regularly. I’ve been trying to get back into my work out dvd’s since it’s too hot to do my usual walk outdoors. Have a lovely weekend… 🙂
So glad you’re here!!! And yes, it’s way too hot to head outside. The videos have been nice as entertainment for my toddler ? have a great weekend yourself!!
You are much braver than I would have been in dealing with that bee!! LOL. I’m terrified of those things and wouldn’t have been able to sleep knowing it was in the house the days prior to its unwelcome entry into your room – lol! I can’t imagine how crazy that was to be peacefully putting on lotion on your bed when you got that surprise guest – yikes!! I’m glad you lived to tell the tale! 😉 lol! OKAY, on to those other goodies — I puffy heart love your new planner!! 😉 YAY! It’s so beautiful!!! 😀 Glad your new exercise routine is going so well! …and hooray for your new tv too!! Have a lovely weekend, sweet friend!! xo – Brenda // Chatting Over Chocolate
HAHA It really stopped me in my tracks when the bee flew in to my room! The trickier part was hopping out of bed on to our hardwood floors with lotioned up feet. So slippery! Have a wonderful weekend!!
Oh my goodness! I hate flying things that sting…lol! I’m not sure what I would have done.
I ALMOST decided to go sleep in the car! HAHA! Thankfully I mustered up some deep dark aggression HA!
I agree with Brenda – you’re so brave! I’m always afraid of making bees/wasps/etc. mad by swatting at them! If I do manage to swat and kill it, I go into overkill mode to make sure it’s good and dead. Ha.
Can you mount your TV over the fireplace? I feel like that looks better than having it just sit on the mantle…or at least it looks as good as it can. 🙂
I don’t normally try to swat at bees either, but thankfully he was all distracted by the overhead light. Even when I first swatted then missed, he flew right back to the light. But I felt like I needed a protective shield! And mounting the TV – that’s a thought! We have this really deep niche over the fireplace, so we’ve tried having the TV in the niche and then right on the edge of it. The bigger issue is that my doodads can’t go in front of the TV… sigh. But if I mount it higher it will leave some space below for doodads! Now I’m liking this idea. Thanks!
I have been exercising lots lately also, and I am in the same boat that you are in: soreness. I have a love hate relationship with feeling sore. I feel like I have to feel sore in order for a workout to be effective (totally not true, though), but I always complain about feeling sore. I know, it’s crazy!
I have been on the hunt for some really great fashion/style magazines. Have any ideas?
I wish we watched less TV than we do. We just get hooked on shows and can’t stop. 🙂
Have a great weekend!

Getting up and down off the floor when I’m playing with Elizabeth is torture! But I’m quickly getting addicted to the sore feeling 🙂 I don’t really subscribe to any fun/unique magazines… but my favorite fashion magazine is Lucky! I’ve had them all, and Lucky is the one I always keep renewing. Low on the celebrity content, and a good mix of high end/everyday fashion. Have a great weekend!
Omg a bee in the house is one of my worst nightmares! Any time one gets in, afterwards I’m like, IT’S TIME TO MOVE! haha
HAHAHA!! That’s definitely what I thought that night! I just forgot about him until that night HA!
Hey lady! I’m DMing you on Twitter about your fire place area/tv problem! Look for it! 🙂

We’re on it 😉
Good luck with your exercise routine! We just got a new-to-us exercise bike, and our goal right now is to ride at least 7 minutes per day (baby steps, lol)! And that’s very stinky about the bee! What a story! I’m glad you survived. 🙂
Baby steps! YES! I need to keep telling myself that. But it has been nice having a fun fitness routine. At least a long walk with friends and our strollers doesn’t seem like fitness 😉 Have a great weekend!
Haha oh no! That bee story is so funny, but I feel bad at the same time. I hate bugs!!! Especially ones that can sting. As for your TV, I say mount it on the wall above the mantel and frame it! I’ve seen some really neat framed TVs on Pinterest and they look gorgeous! Happy Friday!

Oh that’s a good TV suggestion! Our niche is such an awkward size… it’s become a real annoyance. I had a good thing going decorating-wise before the TV… but now I’m stumped! Hope you’re having a great weekend!
Aww sounds like you had a great week!! Good for you fitting in a walk AND a work out video in your days! Thats Ah-mazing. Get it gurl!
Also, I just bought a condo and am having the SAME PROBLEM AS YOU with not knowing what to do with a TV! I havent bought one yet specifically because I hate the idea of it being above my fireplace but don’t really have anywhere for it to go! Any ideas you get about making it look cute, definitely let me know!!

It’s such a struggle. It just seems unnatural to have the TV over the fireplace/focal point! We have a wall on the side of the room that may be fine to hang the TV BUT over the fireplace is the best place for sitting and viewing, and for seeing it from the kitchen… le sigh…. We will figure this out!!
Sounds like a fun week .I am loving that planner! I am addicted to buying office supplies, and am always on the lookout for better planners! Hope you have a great Sunday!!

I LOVE office supplies!! Back to school time is my favorite time of year because they’re all on sale 🙂 Hope you have a great Sunday as well!
