High Five for Friday #70 | The Waiting Game

H54F - A weekly link up, hosted by Cup of Tea, Bright on a Budget, Coffee with Caitlin & Della Devoted

Welcome to High Five for Friday – hosted by me, Tif, and Della! If you want to know more, read about it here!

This week’s featured blogger is Keri from Living in this Season! I’ve been reading her awesome blog for a few years now. If you’re looking for encouragement and uplifting posts about living life to its fullest as a mom and woman, then her blog is for you! This post about finding community is such a great one! She is such a sweet spirit. And that conference I went to a month or so ago?? Yeah, totally met Keri there too! Whitney and I randomly picked a seat RIGHT behind her! Such fun. Go over and say hello!

It didn’t seem like we were up to much this week other than the usual… but there were a few highlights!

1. Mother’s Day was a fun day! I basically just didn’t want to cook a meal, so we hit up all my favs. We had breakfast at our favorite diner first. Elizabeth may love that place more than me!! And then we headed to Hillsborough for a walk on their Riverwalk path, which conveniently ends at an awesome playground! We played there (and by we, I mean my husband and Elizabeth… I sat in the shade!) for about an hour and then walked the half mile back along the river. There is also a REALLY cool stick house along the path. How to describe it…….. it’s a large castle/house thing made entirely of woven sticks! It’s really awesome! Elizabeth loves that, zooming in and out of all the little doors and peeking through the windows. Perfect morning! Our evening was really just watching fun movies with Elizabeth. A fun, relaxing day!

A fun Mother's Day!

2. Remember last week when I mentioned the concert we went to? Funny story! While finding the concert, we drove past a pizza place called Tito’s Pizza. BUT someone really clever designed the logo to that the O in Tito was a pic of a pizza. So it then looked like it had a….. really strange name. I wish I had snapped a pic! But thankfully, Google provides.

Tito's Pizza - the funniest sign ever!

3. This week I noticed that this baby boy dropped down considerably… so I decided it was my sign to start finishing up what I needed to finish up in preparations. It was a productive week! Not productive on the blog, but productive at home. I even ran to our local consignment shop and scored a TON of PJs (which is what he’ll basically live in the first few months of his life… who needs an outfit when you’re tiny and pooping constantly?). I rambled on all about the feels right now with this pregnancy yesterday if you missed it.

4. Along those same lines…. in my shopping yesterday, I quickly realized that buying clothes for a boy is SO much harder than buying girl clothes. The selection is so horrible! Unless you want a baby boy dressed in nothing but sports related clothing… where do you boy moms buy your boy clothes????

5. And HEAR YE! HEAR YE! Yesterday I did something that has probably NEVER been attempted in the history of mankind. I went to Target and stuck to ONLY my shopping list! No extra doodads from the Dollar Spot! No random nail polishes! No “hey it’s all on sale!” stock ups. I’m so impressed with myself! My key takeaway from it was this – always shop at Target when you’re in a time crunch. Don’t go when you’ve got time to kill….

Talk about discipline at Target :D!

Congrats on being full term too. Can’t wait to see pictures and stuff. He’s going to be so cute :D!

    Have an awesome weekend!

  2. Jessica says:

I didn’t know that was possible to do at Target! Bravo!!!!

Our boys wear a lot of sports clothes now that they’re crawling, walking, running, and rolling (through the mud and dirt ;). But for church, going out in public, and other times you need to dress more nicely, I like Old Navy. Their kid’s jeans are very nice quality. They have cute graphic tees and dress clothes. Just last week, I got a bunch of dress shirts and bow ties for the boys for church. I’d check them out!

You’re almost there! Continued prayers for you!

Good ideas! It’s nice to hear ON is a good source for decent clothes. Girl clothes are so easy to find! Have a great weekend!!!

  3. Becky bybmg says:

You’re so close! I really like Old Navy and Baby Gap for boy clothes. I got some cute graphic tee onsies for Cal there recently and some cute printed tees for Wes.

    • Katie @ Cup of Tea says:

Baby Gap! I forget about them. I need to head over there once we are out of the “living in PJs” phase. Have a great weekend!

    • Katie @ Cup of Tea says:

It is really cool! I should have included a bigger picture of the whole thing! And thanks for linking up – always look forward to seeing you and catching up!

  4. Jess says:

I actually just had that Target experience last weekend! Being in a panic over not having a Mother’s Day gift definitely helps one to prioritize, haha! I’ve been to a stick house at a rest stop in Ohio (so random!) before, and it was pretty cool! And I was certainly older than Elizabeth! 🙂 Glad to hear you had fun on Mother’s Day! Have a great weekend!

    • Katie @ Cup of Tea says:

That feeling of not going crazy at Target is euphoric! I may do that more just to feel accomplished 🙂 Have a great weekend yourself!

  5. Erin says:

I wish you lived nearby. I just had a garage sale and hardly got rid of any newborn boy clothes. Tons of PJ’s and onesies (virtually no sports themed ones). I keep trying to find someone I know due soon with a boy to take them. We got a lot of PJ’s at Children’s place. Otherwise, Old Navy, Target and Carter’s can be good options with fairly low prices. Consignment shops or garage sales are great too since in the first year they grow so fast.

    • Katie @ Cup of Tea says:

We have a ton of friends that have had baby girls, so the boy handmedowns are harder to come by! But I would have wiped out your supply. 🙂 I’m hoping our consignment shops are the winner here… my quick scan on Thursday yielded some good finds! Hope you have a great weekend!

  6. Whitney Jordan says:

Yay for a great week!! My favorite boy clothing spots are Old Navy, Gymboree, Osh Kosh and Carters. I agree the selection is much smaller than for girls so you definitely have to search harder to find cute things. It’s possible, but for some reason there are tons more girl options out there. #howrude Take care of yourself and baby boy!!

    • Katie @ Cup of Tea says:

I know some of my sources for Elizabeth’s smocked dresses, etc have boy items too… but I need to remember ON, Gymboree and Carters for the casual stuff too!! So hard. But I’m hoping our consignment shops may prove good too! Fingers crossed 🙂

  7. Whitney says:

The only time I stick to my list at Target is when Paul is with me. Or really when I’m still at work and Paul goes to Target for me. That’s when it really happens. LOL.

    • Katie @ Cup of Tea says:

HAHAHAHAHA!!!! Hilarious! We recently had this debate about Target. My logical husband says “well… if the problem is impulse buys, then don’t impulse buy.” HA! Hard to argue with that, but the pull of Target is strong!!

  8. Nicole says:

Glad you had a nice Mother’s day! And that stick house sounds so cool!
I had to buy a baby boy gift for my boss and his wife a while back and cute non-sports boy clothes are SO hard to find! I ended up finding some cute stuff at Old Navy. Which seems to be what everyone else is recommending as well! Have a great weekend!
