My Favorite Blogs (That I Hope Become Your Favs!)

My Favorite Blogs at Cup of Tea

Ever since I started blogging, I’ve had the best time getting to know other bloggers! It’s just such a hoot swapping stories, getting inspiration, and sharing ideas.

I was featured by Tif over at Bright on a Budget for Tour Around Blogland. Basically, it’s a chance to share some of my favorite bloggers! (Others have also talked about their blog process, but I’m shaking things up!)

I’ve been an avid blog reader for several years now (I actually prefer reading blogs over reading magazines!) and I love being a part of the community, even though I am on a relatively small scale. And when it’s nap time, and a rainy day (like it is today), one of my favorite things is curling up with the lap top and cruising Blog Lovin’ and do a little reading.

So here are a few of my favorite bloggers at the moment!

Bright on a Budget | If you love fashion and beauty, but aren’t willing to break the bank for it, then Tif at Bright on a Budget is your girl! I am always SHOCKED at the amazing deals she scores. My favorite posts are her Wardrobe Re-Wear features, like this one. So clever, that one! She is a serious bargain shopper, but love her every day life posts as well. We will be hosting a giveaway together soon, so stay tuned!

Come Home for Comfort | Whitney at Come Home for Comfort features amazing recipes, clever organizational tips (like this!), and all around good cheer. Every time I read a post of hers, it feels like I should be curled up on her couch, under a cozy blanket, sipping some tea and just chatting. And she’s from the MidWest, so bonus! 🙂

In Residence | I don’t remember exactly when I stumbled on Anne’s blog, but I loved it the moment I did! First, she’s married to a resident, so we have those fun years of supporting our doctor husbands during their medical training. Second, our kiddos are only a few weeks apart!  Third, and most importantly, her content is so awesome! I especially love her style posts, but her recipes always look delicious. Plus, she always recommends some good reads (in the book form, not blog form).

But First, Coffee | So if you like beauty reviews and makeup tutorials, style, and recipes all with a touch of sarcasm, Kallie is your girl! She was also the host of that fun Mug Swap I mentioned a few weeks back. But, seriously, I love her writing style. I have had tea coming close to shooting out of my nose on several occasions, which is something you don’t expect from reading a mascara review post. While I love reading her posts, her 60 second review videos (like this one) are pretty stellar! Plus, she’s a hot drink fan. That should be enough of an endorsement right there!

Here are a few other favs, grouped by category:

The Small Things Blog
Lauren Elizabeth
Designer Bags & Dirty Diapers
Lily Pebbles

Menu Monday!

ListCloseUp

Hey y’all!  Happy Monday!

We are all still recovering from our vacation last week. Mercy. Traveling with a baby is hard work! She did great, but it’s tough when she’s stuck in the car all day, then in a high chair, then in the stroller…

But we’re back to the regularly scheduled program around here! It should be a good week here at Cup of Tea, so stay tuned!!

Anyone else ready for Fall foods? I am! And thankfully, this week in North Carolina, the weather is cooperating! I resisted going into full soup/baking mode because it was still 85 outside. No bueno. But we’re kicking off our traditional Friday Night Soup of the season with my husband’s favorite – chili with cornbread!

Let’s get on to the menu for this week!  For more information on how I menu plan, look at this.

Monday:
Roasted Butternut Squash & Black Bean Enchiladas
(Adapted from this recipe)

Tuesday:
Spaghetti Squash with Homemade Tomato Sauce

Wednesday:

(From CookieandKate.com)

Thursday:
Goat Cheese and Carmelized Onion Pizza

Friday:
Black Bean Chili with Cornbread
(My own hodgepodge recipe)

Hey Hey! It’s Friday!

Happy Friday!

I’ve been totally MIA this week… I promise to be back on the regular next week.

First, though, my sweet blogging friend Tif over at Bright on a Budget featured me for her Tour Around Blogland. So awesome! If you’re visiting from that, Hi! If you haven’t visited Bright on a Budget, go now! She always puts together great outfits using such affordable pieces!!

Anyway, it’s been quiet this week because we’ve been on vacation in Colorado!

Here are a few highlights from this week:

Cup of Tea at the Rocky Mountain National Park

We went to the Rocky Mountain National Park on Tuesday. Elizabeth and I continued the tradition of pictures by national park signs that my dad started oh so many years ago!

Beautiful mountains at the Rocky Mountain National Park

Beautiful scenery at the park! Leaves changing, crisp air, bright blue sky! Pictures just don’t do it justice.Visiting Focus on the Family with Cup of Tea

My favorite visit was to the Focus on the Family headquarters and a trip to the Adventures in Odyssey section! If you’ve never heard of Adventures in Odyssey, it’s a kid/family radio program that has been around since the late 80s. I love it! Still listen to it! You can catch up on episodes here. But, as you can see from the picture, I was the only one excited to be there.Great play area at Focus on the Family

They had a great kids play area that let Elizabeth get her wiggles out!!Garden of the Gods in Colorado Springs

We also visited Garden of the Gods. It’s so beautiful.Air Force Academy Chapel

I have never visited the Air Force Academy campus before. I’ve only done a drive by before. So it was nice to actually see it all up close!

Hey Hey! It’s Friday!

Hello hello! Hope you all had a glorious week!

First up, before we get rolling, I am so excited that we are only 3 weeks away from the Fall version of the 30 Outfits in 30 Days Challenge! I’m already starting to go through my clothes to figure out what I’d like to include in the 30 items. If you’d like to catch up with my last challenge, start with this post.

If you are interested in joining in with me, I’ll be kicking off with my choices on October 2! Prepare yourself!

Onward!

1. Seriously, these last two weeks felt like 5 weeks, and I’m pooped. It seemed like every personal event, work deadline, major blog series and church commitment coincided with this week. I’m just trying to get to Friday night, y’all. I mentioned on Wednesday that I was just failing at blogging, left and right. Your comments were just so sweet and encouraging! So thank you! I consider blogging my hobby, but I have so enjoyed making friends through this!

2. I got 2 new shirts from Boden, and I’m just so excited to wear them in the 30×30 challenge! Although, I posted on Instagram that one of them had a not so Mommy Friendly tag. Le sigh…

3. Elizabeth turned 11 Months yesterday! Yippee! She has decided to celebrate by getting a cold. Poor thing! Which meant she wasn’t enthused about taking her pictures…

4. It’s finally starting to feel like Fall around here (early Fall, anyway). It’s been cooler and we’ve had lovely rainy days. Even when it was warm, the humidity felt lower. I even got a small glimpse of Fall on one of our walks!

5. I signed up for the Mug Swap over at But First, Coffee, and was lucky enough to get a chance to swap with the hostess, Kallie! I received mine earlier in the week. She sent me a 2 mug set and some Autumn Tea that smells like Autumn in a mug. Not to mention its a flavored tea that’s a black tea. A rare thing!

Anyway, that was my week! It felt like a lot of grumbling. Sorry about that! (vacation is coming… vacation is coming…)
