Elizabeth’s 11 Month Update

IMG_4679.JPG

Well, my sweet little girl is already 11 months! This time last year, I was waddling around the house. The nursery was pretty much set, I had washed all her clothes, and I was just trying to rest.

Not to mention reading up on how to care for a baby! (I realized I had read tons about labor signs, what it was like to go into labor, etc, but nothing about basic baby care!)

But now we’re just one month away from her big 1 year celebration! I have GOT to get it together and start planning this party….

Here’s what she has been up to this past month!

Height/Weight | I have NO idea what she is. I feel like we haven’t had a doctor’s appointment for so long. (I guess that’s a good thing, right?)

Routine | Elizabeth’s routine is same old, same old.

  • 7:00am – Wake up and bottle
  • 7:30am – Play time!
  • 8:00am – Breakfast time
  • 8:30am – Continue to play or Bath time
  • 9:00am – Morning nap
  • 10:00am – Wake up and bottle
  • 10:30am – Play time! Or errands.
  • 11:30am – Lunch time
  • 12:oopm – Play time!
  • 1:00pm – Afternoon nap
  • 2:30-3:00pm – Wake up and bottle
  • 3:30pm – Small snack
  • 4:00pm – She plays while I start dinner
  • 4:30pm – Dinner as a family
  • 5:00pm – Play time!
  • 6:00pm – Get ready for bed, and a final bottle.
  • 6:30pm – Lights out and asleep!

Sleeping | Elizabeth is going through phases where she seems like she’s dropping her morning nap, but then she goes right back on track. But other than that, she’s quite the sleeper. I sure hope this continues!

Eating | She loves to eat! I’m surprised by how much she’s packing away.  She has 3 meals a day, and drinks about 6 oz. of formula with each meal. I’ve stopped making her formula in a bottle for 2 of those feedings and am instead giving it to her in her straw cup.

I’m thinking we may also try to give her some real, full milk in a few weeks, just to see what she thinks. Truly, I think she’ll gobble that up. Her favorite foods are cheese (sharp cheddar, feta, mozzarella, doesn’t matter), cheerios, black beans, avocado, eggs, and any fruit (except banana). She also tried those veggie sticks recently, and she loved them!

Sizes | I think I have officially packed away all of her 6 month clothes. And all of her 12 month clothes that looked huge on her last month now fit well. I thought I’d be moving her up to size 4 diapers, but I think we’re good for another month.

Milestones | She’s developing a little personality, no doubt about it!

  • She’s gotten so fast at pulling up to stand. But walking isn’t all that interesting to her.
  • Elizabeth loves being upside down. She’ll even do a downward dog type move. Hilarious!
  • She is becoming a little mischievous one. She knows there are things that she shouldn’t do, but she looks right at me, smiles, and does it anyway. A little stinker 🙂
  • I also think she does things purposefully to make me laugh.
  • Elizabeth also knows how to shake her head no. At first, I felt bad because I thought I was saying no too much or something negative like that. BUT I think she just started shaking her head back and forth to watch the world spin, and we started saying “no no no” in response to that. Now, when she hears no, she shakes her head around.
  • She loves to clap!
  • She clearly understands what I’m saying. A few days ago, I had her little stuffed monkey sitting next to her. She was looking at a book and I said “Would monkey like to read your book?” and she placed the book on the floor in front of the toy. Then she patted my leg, which I interpreted as “please read this book to us, Mommy!”. My heart melted.
  • The play tunnel I bought at Ikea has become such a great toy!
  • She waves hello, good bye, and good night.
  • Elizabeth learned how to stick her tongue out this week. It’s hilarious!
  • She loves feeding me her food. It was cute at first, but then I got a half eaten Cheerio in my mouth. Gross.
  • Along the same lines, she can hand things to you if you ask.
  • Her gabbing is intense!
  • She still seems to be a little shy when you first take her to a place with lots of people/kids, but she quickly warms up.
  • Elizabeth had her first “baby sitting” experience this week. I started a new Bible study, and there was a baby sitter there. So I dropped her and ran. Apparently she was a ham the whole time! Yay her!

Now, like last month, she was nearly impossible to photograph!!

Blogger Fail

Can this week be over yet?

I had planned to share Elizabeth’s 11 Month update with you today! But yesterday she had 0 naps, we ran many errands, and mom was just…. done.

Today, she has a stuffy nose and isn’t her usual perky self. And we don’t want a repeat of pictures like last month.

I also am annoyed that I haven’t gathered all my materials for my planned See it! Pin it! Do it! challenge. Grr.

So, today’s basically a blogging fail.

If you need some entertainment, head on over to Instagram or check out some of my past videos.

Or commiserate with me in the comment section. Actually, that may be more fun. Misery loves company 🙂

Menu Monday!

Happy Monday!  I hope you all had a fantastic weekend! We were SO BUSY! I actually had a baby heart attack Friday because the day just flew by and I realized there was so much yet to accomplish.

Despite that fact, however, we decided to spontaneously drive up to Richmond, VA (about 2 hours away) to spend the day with my sister-in-law, her husband and our little niece. Such a fun, relaxing day!  But that made Sunday all the more crazy since we had a birthday party in the morning (and I had to quickly rustle up something to make!) and then we hosted a potluck dinner that evening with 6 other families.  Such fun! But going out of town on Saturday increased the anxiety level.

Anywho, enough chatter. I’m craving some old favorites this week, so you’ll see quite a few ol’ stand bys pop up.

I also can’t wait to get back to Friday night soup nights. It’s just not cool enough here in NC to rationalize that.

So here’s what we are eating for dinner this week!  For more information on how I menu plan, see my previous blog post!

Monday:
Tacos

Tuesday:
Cheesy Roasted Red Pepper Pasta Bake
(Adapted from a recipe found on Pinterest)

Wednesday:
Roasted Butternut Squash & Black Bean Enchiladas
(One of our favorite recipes!)

Thursday:
Triple-decker Tomato & Avocado Paninis with Mozz and Pesto
(Found on Pinterest)

Friday:
Black Beans & Rice

Saturday:
Easy Vegetarian Meatballs with Apricot Glaze

Sunday:
Southwest Chopped Salad with Creamy Cilantro Dressing
(Found on Pinterest)

*Grocery store this week: Trader Joe’s

Hey Hey! It’s Friday!

Friday! Yee-haw!

Here’s what we’ve been up to!

1. Our Labor Day weekend was such a fun time! We went up to Virginia Beach to visit my in laws, and then our little niece was dedicated. We also popped over to the beach on Monday. I tried sticking Elizabeth’s feet in the ocean again, since she seems to be enjoying water  more and more. She loved it! Next time, I’m going to have to put her in a bathing suit and a swim diaper.

2. I seemed to have a hard time getting back into the groove this week. I should have done a lot! But I feel like I haven’t really done anything. Grr.

3. I’m still creeping the Un-Fancy blog and am thinking darn hard about really streamlining my wardrobe and getting it down to the bare basics and absolute favorites. I chatted about this in my latest Favorites video. I’m also toying with the idea of using Stitch Fix. It looks like such fun, and I figure it will keep me out of stores and spontaneously buying things. Have you used Stitch Fix? Tell me what you thought!

4. Elizabeth has really started being funny! I mean she is doing things, purposefully, to be funny! It’s amazing. I wish I could keep a camera on her all the time. I want to savor all these little moments!

5. Today we’re headed down to the mall to spend some time with good friends (Sephora and C. Wonder are on the “visit” list!), and then we have a play date in the afternoon. Should be a busy day!

Let me know what you’ve been up to in the comments below!  Have a great weekend!

August Favorites | TV + Organization + Clothing

August 2014 Favorites | Cup of TeaI typically have at least a few beauty items in my favorites recap, but not this month. I just didn’t buy anything that was favorite worthy.

But I have plenty of favorites, nonetheless!

Planner | You’ve probably already seen my blog post on how I set up my Moleskine notebook to be my own, custom planner.  But it’s just rocked my socks this month! I feel a little more organized, and that should always be a favorite.

The Killing | I mentioned how much my husband and I were enjoying this show. If you love mysteries, crime thrillers, detective dramas, etc., then check this out! The entire series is on Netflix!

SaconneJolys YouTube Channel | I don’t know why these daily vloggers make my day, but they are such a delightful little family! They are a favorite this month because they are an Irish family, but recently moved to London, so I’ve enjoyed watching them all get settled.  Check them out!

Instagram | Yep. Instagram made the list. Instagram is like the social media platform meant for me. All pictures. Loads of interaction. I haven’t been as active this past month on Instagram like I had been previously, but I’ve been enjoying being a stalker on every else’s feeds 🙂

Old Navy Rockstar Skinny Jeans | It’s embarrassing, but I’ve been wearing my maternity skinny jeans since I was pregnant. Which was basically this time last year. Yikes. They were comfortable, but the reason I had such a hard time giving them up was because I couldn’t find a pair of dark skinny jeans that were comfortable, soft, and weren’t bunchy around the ankle. Enter the Rockstar Skinnies from Old Navy! I ended up buying these in the short length, which I think made the difference!

un-fancy.com | This blog has been popping up on other blogs for the last month or so, but if you haven’t heard of Un-Fancy yet, I’ll just say it’s fabulous! Basically, Caroline has streamlined her wardrobe into a minimalist capsule wardrobe, and creates seasonal looks from a collection of items from the capsule, as well as a few new pieces purchased for the 3 month season. If you’ve ever been interested in a minimalist wardrobe and having a quality vs. quantity existence, then check out this blog! It’s amazing!

Anything you’re loving right now? Would love to hear about it!
