High Five for Friday

H54F - A weekly link up, hosted by Cup of Tea, Bright on a Budget, Coffee with Caitlin & Della Devoted

Welcome to High Five for Friday – hosted by Katie, Caitlin, Tif and Della! If you want to know more, read about it here!

NYfoodiefamilyThis week’s featured blogger is Nancy at NY Foodie Family! She blogs on every topic related to food, which is awesome, including some delicious recipes. I pinned this Olive Potato Pizza! It’s sure to be a hit in our house! Be sure to swing by and say hi!

We pick a new blogger each week to feature! If you’d like to be featured, be sure to link up (see instructions below) and then link back to one of us four hosts to let your blog readers know you linked up at H54F!

Here’s what we were up to this week!

1. Earlier this week we were vacationing in the Outer Banks, NC! It was such a fun vacation, full of relaxation and exploration. It was pretty cold, so it made exploring outside a bit of a challenge. But we made the most of it nonetheless. We went hiking, visited an aquarium, saw where the Wright Brothers (Ohio natives – woot woot!) flew their plane, and even collected some seashells. I’m planning on a full review of the vacation next week, so stay tuned!

2. I get my first Stitch Fix next week! I’m kind of excited (duh). Can’t wait to see what comes! I left it slightly open for picks. I figure lets just see what happens with box 1, and then tweak as I go. I plan on a blog post reviewing the first box once it arrives and I snap enough pics.

3. Despite vacation, I managed to squeak out a few blog posts this week. If you haven’t seen my Meal Planning Printables round up or the latest What’s in My Diaper bag video, check it out! And here’s hoping to getting back to more posts next week!

4. Can we talk TV again this week? I feel like every other H54F deserves a TV round up. We finished House of Cards on Netflix while on vacation. And I’m sad it’s done… I knew this would happen. We would start the season, finish it in just a few days, and now I have to wait a whole year before the next season. Have you watched it? What did you think of this season, compared to past ones? What should we watch next on Netflix?

5. The sweetest thing happened last night. I remembered a book I bought for Elizabeth last year about the meaning of Easter, and grabbed it before bed time. As we were reading it, the last page had a picture of a church congregation, all praying, with heads bowed and eyes closed. And Elizabeth? She immediately followed along! Head bowed and everything, complete with an “aaaaaamah” amen. I may have cried. Go ahead, Elizabeth, make your momma proud.

So what were you up to this week??? I want to know!

  1. Megan says:

That is exciting about the Stitch Fix and I can’t wait to see what you think of your order. I haven’t signed up, but I”m so intrigued. I have 2 episodes left of season 3 and I have to say I’ve been a little bored with this one. Something big needs to happen soon.

    • Katie @ Cup of Tea says:

I’m on pins and needles waiting for that first box to arrive. 🙂

And agree with Season 3. I liked the big political conflicts, but thought it was a slower season (and Underwood wasn’t as sneaky), but still a great one. I just hate that I have to wait another year for a new season. Sigh…

  2. Nicole says:

Your vacation sounds fun! I’m looking forward to seeing pictures from your trip. I have never been to NC (well, I had a stopover there once when flying back to the NW, but that doesn’t count!) I always thought NC looked so pretty!
That is so sweet what Elizabeth said! Just wait until she starts praying! Kid prayers are so cute!

    • Katie @ Cup of Tea says:

Child prayers are absolutely so sweet! Should be adorable 🙂

NC is a beautiful state! I hail from the Midwest originally, so it’s nice to see rolling hills around here, and the fact that the beach is about 3+ hours away is a nice bonus! Hope you had a great weekend!

    • Katie @ Cup of Tea says:

The coats were a necessity! It was so windy and cold on the beach. Elizabeth was basically frozen in place whenever we ventured out, so I quickly grabbed seashells to play with inside our room 🙂

  3. Brenda says:

So glad you enjoyed such a fun vacation!! How exciting that you’ll receive your first stitch fix soon! Looking forward to seeing what they send your way 🙂 Ok, so that story of Elizabeth during bedtime story time was oh SO precious!!! It melted my heart too!! Enjoy your weekend, Katie! xo

    • Katie @ Cup of Tea says:

I can’t wait for that first Stitch Fix too! I’m sure it will be mostly misses, as we are both trying to figure out what I’m looking for, but should be fun nonetheless. Hope you had a wonderful weekend yourself!!

  4. Whitney says:

Can’t wait to hear about your vacation. It looked like fun 🙂 That amen story was adorable. Isn’t it amazing how much these little people pick up on? Hope you have a great weekend 🙂

    • Katie @ Cup of Tea says:

I am always amazed at what Elizabeth has managed to pick up and understands. She may not talk much, but she certainly is absorbing things 🙂 Hope you had a wonderful weekend yourself!!

    • Katie @ Cup of Tea says:

It was our first time to the Outer Banks, and it was really nice! I’m looking forward to going back soon! And House of Cards is excellent! Many plots all swirling together, so it can be hard to follow, but recommend the binge watching! It’s a little icky, so if you can handle that, you’ll love it!

  5. Whitney says:

I’m so glad you had a good time at the beach! My sister and I were reminiscing last night about a chilly week we spent at OBX many years ago – we have good memories of being together but boy was it cold! 🙂 Have a lovely weekend!

    • Katie @ Cup of Tea says:

It was our first time going, and I’m sure it wasn’t our last! I love where we stayed – the area was pretty quiet and small. Can’t wait to go back!! Hope you had a wonderful weekend!
