Halloween 2015!

Happy (few days after) Halloween!! I hope you had a wonderful time doing all kinds of fun, spooky things.

I thought it would be fun to share a few pics and videos from our Halloween this year. We didn’t do a ton of Halloween-related activities, but did manage to pull together a costume (borrowed!), get some candy, and open the door to trick-or-treaters.

Halloween 2015 Recap on the Cup of Tea blog!

Can we talk about how hard it is to take a picture of a toddler?? I took about 100 pictures… and almost all of them either had a blurry body part, or Elizabeth wasn’t looking at the camera. Thankfully, it only takes one (or two) to get a good picture.Halloween 2015 Recap on the Cup of Tea blog!

Elizabeth adored her little doggy costume! We borrowed it from a friend, and it was a huge hit with this girl! She loved the big tutu (she even developed a little sashay when she walked) and those doggie ears.

I know she also loved having her “liddle doggie nooooose”. Liquid eye liner in felt tip pen form for the win!

We opted not to go door to door this year. Neither mommy nor daddy had the energy for it. And we didn’t think she’d last long. We thought she’d have a lot more fun this year waiting for the doorbell to ring. And she did! She got so excited to go see the “kids” and hand out candy. And all the kids had fun seeing her too. It was a win-win!

Easiest way to get a good smile from a toddler? Let them see themselves in the camera. HA!

In other Halloween-related news, there were a few Vlogtober videos that went along with the theme! My favorite is this one all about Halloween candy. I cracked myself up a few times when I was editing (which, to be honest, isn’t hard…. but still funny!).

And finally, want to see what we were up to Halloween night? I filmed a quick vlog as the last installment of Vlogtober.

How was your Halloween? Start any fun, new traditions? Did you stay in or go out? Let me know!!

High Five for Friday #43 | The BEST Surprise Date

H54F - A weekly link up, hosted by Cup of Tea, Bright on a Budget, Coffee with Caitlin & Della Devoted

Welcome to High Five for Friday – hosted by me, TifDella, and Caitlin! If you want to know more, read about it here!

Did you miss Sunday’s Google Hangout?? Don’t worry! You can catch up and watch it here! We had such a great time talking about all things Fall. It was a hoot!

Our featured blogger this week is Erin from Chasing Roots! She’s a blogger who’s tiptoed all over the Midwest, and now lives in Texas with her family! You’ll definitely want to see her post today – a look back at past Halloweens! Really cute! Swing over and say hi!

Alrighty – it’s H54F time!

1. Shall we talk about the surprise date? I somehow missed that my husband had “Date Night” blocked off on the calendar Wednesday, but it was such a pleasant surprise!  We went out to eat, and then started walking down to the performing arts building. THAT’S when it hit me! We were going to see John Cleese and Eric Idle from Monty Python!! Squeeeeeee!!!

Seeing John Cleese and Eric Idle for our surprise date!

And my sweet husband got really close seats (not those red club chairs… unfortunately, but close!). It was such a fun evening! If you’ve ever been a fan of Monty Python, this would have just made your day! They played a video of an hilarious sketch that I hadn’t seen before. You NEED to see this!

2. Shall I catch you up on the church building project??? Friday and Sunday last week were such big building days! They got all the exterior walls up, to start prepping for the roof. Monday all the trusses were put up. Unfortunately, rain settled in Tuesday and Wednesday, so construction stopped. I didn’t get a chance to go over yesterday, but plan to swing down there today to see what they all need. But here’s a video of Sunday!

3. It was a fairly quiet blog week over here this week, BUT it was a busy video week! I caught up on uploading all the Vlogtober vids I was behind on, AND managed to record a few extras. This week’s favorite Vlogtober video is all about getting to know Elizabeth. We had a fun time filming that! FYI – if you’re not subscribed to my YouTube channel, do it now! I’m almost to 500 subscribers! But here’s a little video of Elizabeth and I – short, but hilarious!

4. On Tuesday, before the rain settled in, we managed to sneak in a quick family walk. It was so nice to crunch through the leaves. There’s nothing better than that crisp, Fall air – that smell of cool air and dried leaves. Such a delightful smell!

5. This weekend should be delightfully quiet, compared to last weekend! We are providing food for our church building volunteers on Saturday (that reminds me… need to go out and grab some ingredients!) and Sunday I’m sure I’ll head to the site for a little bit. But I’m looking forward to some quiet, relaxing moments this weekend. It’s been such a busy month or two that I’m not exactly sure what to do with this slight wind down… BUT it’s fun getting over to the site to check in, go grocery shopping for the cooks, and help where I can!

So what were you up to this week? Let me know! Or better yet, link up!

Fellow bloggers – ready to join in the link up? Just write a blog post about 5 things that made this week awesome! Add your link to your blog post down below (make sure it’s your blog post, not your blog home page!). And then grab the H54F button to add to your post! And go visit at least 3 fellow link uppers AND this week’s featured blogger! It’s just the nice thing to do.

And be sure to tag your posts/pics on social media with #H54F! We really do try to make the rounds and like, comment, retweet, etc! It’s so much fun to support one another, isn’t it?

Menu Monday #59 | Menu Repeat

ListCloseUp

Happy Monday! Monday already… where do these weekends go?

I have to laugh – this post is called “Menu Repeat” because… it’s basically a repeat of last week. I planned out all these meals, but completely forgot my husband was going out of town. Oops! No point cooking some favorite foods when he’s not here to enjoy it.

So… let’s do it again!

For those that are curious, our new church (I talked about it last week here) is coming along!

Today the roof trusses are going up (I now know just enough about construction to make me obnoxious) and the rest of the roof up on Tuesday. Perfect timing before the rain comes in mid-week. Just keep thinking and praying for all of the 60 volunteers that came here, from all over the country, to help us build this church.

We had everyone with us at church this weekend, and it was such a high day! So much fun to welcome all these volunteers. And for me, since I’ve been communicating with them for weeks, it’s been fun to put names and faces together. Such a delight!

I’ll keep you posted, but I’m trying to post pics over on instagram. I also noticed a church member who’s MUCH better at photography than I am, had a tripod up yesterday taking pics and video. So fingers crossed there’s an awesome “official” video up when this is all done in 2 weeks.

Anyway, the menu! Comfort foods reign again, and this time I hope I actually cook them.

As always, for more information on how I menu plan, look at this.

Monday:
Stovetop Mac & Cheese

Tuesday:
Veggie Chicken with Creamy Mushroom Sauce

Wednesday:
SURPRISE Date Night!

Thursday:
Veggie Meatballs with Mashed Potatoes

Friday:
Chili & Corn Bread

Saturday:
Church Potluck

Sunday:
Pizza
(Frozen no doubt, because I may be too tired to care at this point)
